Railway Collision-
Trolley car No. 54 on the ceme-
tery line in charge of Motorman
L. W. Wilson was run into and
somewhat damaged by a Southern
Pacific switch engine about 6:30
o’clock this morning.
The motorman lays the blame
for the accident on the watchman
at the crossing. He says he was
returning from his first trip out
and as he reached the track the
flagman signaled him to cross but
in so doing the car slipped its trol-
ley and then engine was already
too close onto him to stop and
struck the front platform of the
car tearing it partly away and
turning it directly across the
street parallel with the railroad
track. Besides this no damage
was done.
DR. BRISTOW KILLED.
Shot By His Son's Brother-in-law In
Flatonia-
A telegram was received in this
city yesterday afternoon from
Flatonia detailing the fact that
Dr. B. W. Bristow leading physi-
cian of that place had been shot
three times and killed by Trotter
Hopkins a brother-in-law of B.
West Bristow of San Antonio son
of Dr. Bristow’.
No particulars were given and
it is not known whether the affair
was a street encounter or deliber-
ate murder. Family troubles have
caused the killing which was not
unexpected by the murdered man
as he had received word while in
this city some two months ago
that certain parties were coming
here to kill him and at the time
he sought and obtained from De-
tective’ Shoaf police protection
while the parties were tn the city.
The recent divorce trouble of Mr.
B. West Bristow and his wife are
credited with being mingled with
the tragedy.
