Fourth cavalry to the Twelfth cavalry
and has orders to join his regiment the
two officers exchanging regiments.
Captain Percy E. Trippe who passed
through here recently from Laredo in
command of a troop of the Tenth caval-
ry bound for the Philippines has been
transferred from the Tenth cavalry to
the Twelfth cavalry. Captain Trippe
will join his regiment upon its arrival
in the divisioq of the Philippines.

Battery Field artillery while endeavor-
ing to save property from the burning
buildings was quite severely injured by
a roof caving in and falling oh him. He
was taken to the Post hospital and it is
thought he is not fatally hurt.

The predicted raid on the paving mon-
gyMbf which the publie wns warned
through the Light several days ago.
was made yesterday when the second
estimate on the work was paid before
a block of asphalt had been laid.
The amount of this estimate was $12-
876.99 and a voucher was issued the con
tractors for 89.657.03 of the amount. 25
per cent being retained by the city under
the contract stipulations.
The first estimate was for 8.180.03 of
winch 25 per cent was held luu-k. the
voucher la-ing for $6352. This makes
a total of $16000.03 that Ims been paid
the contractors and the paving work
has not yet reached the paving point
called for by the contract.
There are now only fifteen or eighteen
days left for the company to complete
the entire six miles of paving ami a rea-
olution to forfeit the contract is now
pending in the council.
