lived...
COME breeze-was blowing but not what one would call a terrine
3 breeze at all No particular guy hit the ball harder than any
other guy Everybody had his knocks and all pitchers suffered.
Not only thst but the young pitchers are m good shape and were

KANSAS CITY, Mo.. March 16.
The fortunes of the San Diego
State basketball team today were
bound in a three-foot piece, of
rope named "Spook."
San Diego meets Tarkio, Mo.,
College tonight in the finals of
the National Intercollegiate Bas-

Coach Morris Gross, who has
watched his team win all four of
its games in the tournament in
the final minute of play, gave all
of the credit to the invisible mas-

Two New Records
Two divisional records lay by
the wayside this afternoon as the
remainder of a new record entry
list of 1210 high school and col-
lege athletes went into the finals
of the Eighteenth Annual South-

Welby Williams, sensational

Teachers College, clipped one-

100-yard dash record set here in.
1937 by his former team-mate,
Delmar Brown, when he breezed
down the red cinder track of the
new public school stadium today
in 9.6 seconds.
Bill Cummings of Schreiner In-
stitute skimmed the 120-yard high
hurdles in 14 7 seconds to trim
seven tenths of a second from the
three-year-old junior college mark
of another Schreiner product, Red
Fitzgerald.

most sensational in the meet's 18-
year history.

San Diego had to overcome a
seven-point lead in the final
three minutes of its game last
night, with a substitute, Eddie
Preisler, making the winning goal.
Tarkio, a surprise team from
the start, found the going com-
paratively easy against a foot-
weary Hamlins University team
from St. Paul, Minn., in the other
game. Tarkio, a 48 to 34 victor,
depended mainly upon a triple-
