As
OF THE
" PUBLIC GENERALLY,"
TO call and examine our stock before purchasing
A elsewhere. All who have done so, will attest
the fact, that it is the largest, most varied, and best
selected STOCK, ever brought to this country.
Our firm is a permanent fixture in Marshall,
and hence, does not, (as some others,) have to in-
cur the heavy expense of advertising a " change of
name and style," or a complete " turn over ‘‘ every
two or three months.
N. B.—This expense we will not have to add to the
price of goods.
In conjunction with the principal merchants of
our city, we have adopted the " SPECIE BAsts ‘‘ in
all our sales, but have not increased the price of
goods one cent. One dollar in specie to-day will
buy as much as it would two months since. Some
catch-penny tricksters and humbugs with a parcel of
auction house refuse, are endeavoring to miscon-
strue the action of the merchants in this particu-
lar, but we pass their efforts with the silence
their little importance merits, and respectfully
ask our patrons to come forward and judge our
stock and prices for themselves.

DR. SAMUEL GILBERT’S
PREPARATIONS
DR. SAMUEL GILBERT, so celebrated as having
had, for the last twenty-five years, in the treat-
ment of CHRONIC DISEASES, the most lucra-
tive Medical Practice in the South, has at last
consented to allow several of his most esteemed
remedies to be prepared and sold as proprietary,
medicines. This resolution has been engendered
by the repeated solicitations of those who have
experienced the benefit of his remarkable profes-
sional skill, and by the impossibility of giving
especial attention to each of the written applica-
tions made to him for prescriptions by those whose
pecuniary circumstances, or business habits, pre-
clude the possibility of applying in person to him.
THE PUBLIC
May rest assured that the manufacturers spare,
neither pains nor expense in the preparation of
these remedies. They are made of the very best
medicines known, in a highly concentres d form,"
upon strictly scientific principles.
DR. SAMUEL GILBERT’S GENERAL VALE
ternative acts directly upon the Glands and Mu-
cous Membrances—stimulating them to addition-
al activity in their natural functions of elimina-
ting from the Circulating Fluids the usual Effete
(and in disease. Morbid) Matters, and expelling
them through the Skin, Kidneys, Liver, and 1.
mantary Canal from the System. It is, thereiore,
adapted for the relief of Chronic Diseases affect-
ing those organs, and of the mucous membrances"
lining them, such as Eruptions, Tetter, Ulcers,
Scrofula, Jaundice, Goitre, Chronic Inflamation.
of Bladder and Uterus, etc. It is particularly
useful in Ioomn lgldhdo I[ .coma)
SUPPRESSED MENSTRUATION
Hereditary Taints, Syphilis, and maladies, arising
from long-continued use of Calomel, Blue Mass,
Corrosive Sublimate, Fowler’s Solution, Dono-
van’s Solution, and other preparations of Mercury
and Arsenic.
DR. SAMUEL GILBERT’S TETTER OINT
ment is a most excellent preparation for the cure
of that class of maladies usually termed DISEASES
OF THE SKIN, and which are popularly known as
chronic eruptions, tetter, pimples, blisters, scabs,
scald-head, milk-crust, ring-worm, etc., etc.
It will also kill Itch and other local vermin
which prey upon the skin. It softens and de-
taches the excrementitious matters deposited upon
the skin ; heals the cracks, blisters, and pimples,
and renders the cutaneous surface smooth and
pliable. It has been used by Dr. Gilbert, with
most satisfactory results, for many years. It is
offered for sale, in this style, from the firm con-
viction that it must necessarily meet with the
hearty approbation of those who make use of it.
Full directions for the method of using these
remedies, a plain and accurate description of a
number of the differnt varieties of skin diseases,
and many valuable suggestions in regard to their
cure, will be found printed on circular accom-
panying each package. These suggestions are the
fruit of most ample experience acquired by Dr.
Gilbert during his extraordinary professional ca-
reer in the treatment of this class of diseases in the
cities of Memphis, New Orleans, and New York ,
and will, it is expected, enable most unprofession -
al persons to treat their own cases with much
greater success than that which usually falls to
the lot of ordinary physicians.

CITATION.
No. 4955.
Ladson L. Boone, vs. A. Judson Gibbs and Martha
A. Gibbs.
THE STATE OF TEXAS.
COUNTY OF HARRISON.
To the Sheriff of said County, Greeting:
HEREAS, Ladson L. Boone has on this, the
VY 18th day of August, 1866, filed his petition
in my office, stating in substance that A. Judson
Gibbs and his wife, Martha A. Gibbs, both of
whom are non-residents of the State of Texas, are
justly indebted to him in the sum of fourteen
hundred and sixty-two dollars, besides interest
thereon from the 15th day of June, 1866 ; for that
said Martha A. Gibbs, acting as a femme sole, liv-
ing apart from her said husband, did employ him,
said Boone, in the County of Harrison aforesaid,
on the 15th day of October, 1865, to manage and
preserve her separate property, which he avers to
be of the value of twenty thousand dollars, she
agreeing and binding herself to pay him the sum
of one hundred and twenty-five dollars per month,
besides board for himself and family. That he,
said Boone, gave his undivided attention to her,
said Martha A.’s business, from the 15th day of
October, 1865, to the 15th day of June, 1866,
whereby, said Martha A. became indebted to him
in the sum of one thousand dollars less thirty-
eight dollars paid him by her. That at the date
of said contract, to-wit: on the 15th day of Oc-
tober, 1865, and long previous to that date and
between the dates herein before named, whilst
he worked for said Martha A , her husband, A.
Judson Gibbs, was, and still is, living apart from
her, rendering her no assistance whatever. That
his, said Boone’s services were consequently in-
dispensably necessary for the support of said
Marth A. and her children, and to the manage-
ment of her said separate property. That, in ad-
dition to his services, at the special instance and
request of her, said Martha A., he sold and de-
livered to her, on the 15th day of June, 1866, a
horse and buggy, she agreeing and promising to
pay him five hundred dollars therefor; that said
horse and buggy were necessary for her comfort
and convenience, and that of her family. That
said sums of money, amounting in all, to the sum
of fourteen hundred and sixty-two dollars, was
long since due and payable, yet though often re-
quested, said defendants have wholly failed to
pay the same or any part thereof; wherefore, he,
said Boone, prays for judgment and for a decree
of court that the separate property of said Martha
A. be sold to satisfy said judgment and all costs,
damages, &c.; and said Ladson L. Boone having
this day filed in this office his affidavit, that said
A. Judson Gibbs and his wife, Martha A. Gibbs
are non-residents of the State of Texas, and hav-
ing also made affidavit and filed his bond as re-
quired by law, praying for the issuance of a writ
of attachment against the property of Martha A.
Gibbs, and said bond being approved and process
issued as prayed for.
These are therefore to command you to cite
the said A. Judson Gibbs and the said Martha A.
Gibbs, by the publication of this writ for four
successive weeks in the Harrrison Flag, a news-
paper published in the city of Marshall, to be and
appear at the next term of the District Court of
Harrison county, to be held at the Courthouse in
the city of Marshall, on the 5th Monday after the
2nd Monday in August, 1866, then and there to
answer said petition.
Herein fail not, and due return make of this
writ according to law.
TEST, J. M. Henderson, Clerk of

: gust, 1866.
: J. M. HENDERSON, Clerk.
