Theatre Coppell Presents ‘Run For
Your Wife’ Beginning October 6
Theatre Coppell presents the first
show of its 2006 - 2007 season, “Run for
Your Wife,” a British farce, beginning
Friday, October 6, and running for three
weekends.
As with all farces, the play begins
frantically and heads downhill from there.
John Smith, a London cab driver, actually
leads two separate lives: he has two wives
and two flats but so far he has managed
to coordinate his schedule to keep things
under wraps. Everything is going well
until a freak accident forces him to admit
the truth to his neighbor and together they
weave one outlandish story after another
to keep the wives and the police from
discovering John’s secret. In the best tra-
dition of British farce, one little misstep
leads to something just a bit more out-
landish, and that leads to falsehoods so
unbelievable they are believed, and even-
tual catastrophe.

Director George Morrow loves the
fast paced, frantic action of the play in
which both apartments share the same
set.
“You have to follow closely to keep
up with who is in whose apartment,” says
Morrow. “The simultaneous action be-
tween the two locations adds to the ‘over-
the-top’ nature of the show. Mix in some
slapstick elements with lots of mistaken
identities and you’ve got the classic Brit-
ish farce. It should be a treat to watch.”
The show opens at Coppell Center for
the Arts, 157 S. Moore Rd., on Friday,
October 6, and runs three weekends, with
performance times on Friday and Satur-
day at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
