Law, otherwise known ns Chapter
l.'ti of the General Laws of rexint on-
acted by the Twenty Klghth i.egiHla-
ture.
These regulations are intended to
facilitate the v erk <>t f*ul hreod erad-
ication, an J while, in *ome few In-
stance *, their operation may cause
temporary inconvenience to a few in-
<11 viduals, a careful study of them will
wr iH'lleve, convince every lieekeeper
tliat they arc no inorc'Htrlugent tlian
íh ueuexiury to secure uniform action
ami co-operation. In fact these rebu-
ilt t ions have been, adopted primarily
for the purpose of securlny; concerted
uctlHii of the beekeepei-H in dealing
with the foul-brood scourge, in order
that the disease may be successfully
controlled and eradicated.
We earnestly request the full co-op-
eration of every Texas beekeeper In
securing 'i fall compliance with these
resolutions. a> well as with the l«out
Brood Law itself.
At the end of thin paper will be
found the namet and addresses of the
inspectors assignee to iluiy in the
CMinties which are quarantined.
These Inspectors are all practical, ex-
|M rienced beekeeper* themselves, and
have the interests of the bee men thor-
oughly at heart. The liis|>eetorK are
paid for their services by the State
Kntoniulogist'a office, and no charge
Is made by them for advice. Inspection
of Imvs, or for assistance rendered in
the treatment of diseased solonies and

SHIPMENTS OF BEES.

of the Act .if the Legislature-cited above
re«juiri-s tht State Entomologist t<> make |
rules and regulations for eradicating j
and controlling discuses ot i>ees in the
State of Texas, ami
Whereas, a contagious disease cannot
!>.■ eradicated from the State so long as
diseased colonit >• t be imported from
other states and countries, therefore.
Ii is herein ordered that, on uudaftcr
this 'late, all hone\ bees shipped o¡-
nciv,'d into this Suite shall be accompa-
nied bv a certificate of inspection -- i 11 -
vd In the Stati Entomologist or State
F«>ul Brood Inspector "! the st..u m-
country from which shipped Such
certificate shall certif y t<> the apparent
freedom of the bees from contagious!
disease and must be based upon an at
lual inspection of the Ik-cs themselves j
within a jh.t:«h1 of ninet\ «lavs preceding \
líate of shipment. The shippei "f such j
tiees is herein required t<> file with the ,
State Entomologist, at College Station, j
Texas, at least ten «ia\s in advance of
such shipment, a ci vtiiied copy of said j
certificate, together with the names and '
addres.is of both consignor and cm
sijflH'C.
This regulation shall not apply to
shipments "f queen bees, by mail, when 1
in reenter <|neen mailing cages. nor to j
shipments of live bees in wire cage* with-
out combs or honey.
There is, of course, a possibility of
foul brood being introduced in «¡m en
cages h\ reason of the candy therein
having been made from infected honey.
However, a general ipiuianlinc against
queen bees would work considerable
hardship and «loes not at present seem j
justified. Every beekeeper can easih ¡
protect hisapiary from infection through
this means, simph by putting the queen |
and her retinue of workeis into another j
cage before introduction, and burning I
up the cage in which she is received, j
We would strongly nrge all bee keepers ¡
to take this precaution unless absolute!) i
sure that no bee disease exists in the re-
^idti from w hich queens arc received, •
SALE OF SHIPMENT OF HI SEAS
ED BE ICS PROHIBITED.
Reg. J. It is rurther ordered that 1
bees infected with foul brood, or other
contagious disease, shall not be moved
or shipped from one place to another
w ithin this State. Attention is particu-
larly called to Section 4 of the Act
above rcfered to. which prohibits the
sale, bartering or giving away of any
infected bees, honey, hives or appli-
ances. or the offering of any such for
sale, or the exposing of any bees to the
danger of infection, and which provides
a line of not to exceed two hundred
dollars for violation thereof.
This regulation applies throughout
the entire State, iitall counties, whether
specially quarantined or not and must
be strictly complied with.
