Local Gymnast Places Fourth in Nation
Davis a Hopeful for 2008 Olympics

trains approximately 36 hours per
week with Texas Dreams Gym-
nastics in Coppell, was recently
ranked fourth in the nation in the
junior division at the Champion-

California.
In the competition that took
place August 16-18, Davis fin-

placed sixth on the bars. Davis
was one of only 42 gymnasts
from across the country to
qualify for this year’s champi-
onship event.
At last year’s event, Davis
became injured and was unable
to compete.
“After having to watch from
the stands after last year’s event,
coming in fourth in the nation this
year was amazing. Competing
at the Championships was very
exciting,” said Davis.
The Championship of the
USA is a two-day competition
that extracts the cream of the
crop that will represent the
United States in international
competitions. Davis was selected
to represent the U.S. in her in-
ternational debut in Belgium. Af-
ter that, Davis moves on to vie
for the Junior Pan American
Games team in November. This
January, Davis will be moving
into the senior ranks, which will
