CMS West Makes Business Group’s Honor Roll
CMS West Happenings
By Jane Moore
For the second year in a row,
CMS West has earned a place
on the Texas Business and Edu-
cation Coalition (TBEC) Honor
Roh.
TEBC identifies Honor Roll
schools by analyzing three years
of performance data for every
public school in Texas.
A TBEC Honor Roll school
must have a high percentage of
students meeting state standards
on every TAKS test for three
consecutive years, and must
have the highest percentage of
students performing at the state’s
most rigorous standard — com-
mended — in every subject
(math, science, reading and so-
cial studies).
The selection committee also
considers the school’s demo-
graphics, number of commended
students for subjects tested and
grade levels.
CMS West is one of 35
schools recognized in Texas by
the program, which includes
sponsorships from IBM, Center
point Energy, State Farm Insur-
ance, ExxonMobil Corporation,
Texas Instruments, Dow Chemi-
cal, National Instruments, Wash-
ington Mutual, H-E-B and oth-
ers.
Principal Vern Edin and As-
sistant Principal Jeff Minn will
attend a recognition dinner and
ceremony in November to accept
the award.
