Photograph of the German cruiser Admiral Graf Spree with minor hull damage following the Battle of the River Plate on December 13, 1939. The Admiral Graf Spree, a Deutschland class cruiser, is seen floating with her anchor dropped. Her hull is lined with portholes. Near her bow is a hole in her hull port side. A wooden platform has been lowered by rope to the level of the hole from the deck's railing. There are sailors on the deck leaning against the railing. The Admiral Graf Spree, a Deutschland class cruiser, is seen floating with her anchor dropped. Her hull is lined with portholes. Near her bow is a hole in her hull port side. A wooden platform has been lowered by rope to the level of the hole from the deck's railing. There are sailors on the deck leaning against the railing. The Admiral Graf Spree is equipped with a triple gun turret seen in front of the superstructure. The bridge can be seen partially obscured behind the superstructure. On her port side is a small boat floating in the water and attached to the Admiral Graf Spree by two ropes.
