Two Horse Thieves Captured
Constable E. A. Ellis arrested
wo negroes, Jack Martin and
Opie Miller last Saturday morn-
niiT and locked them up in jr.il
>n charges of horse theft. The y
rode into town early in the morn-
ug and were trying to sell the
rwo horses and one of them was
>ent to Mr. E11Í6 to sell a horse,
it wus not stales day and Mr.
Kllis asked only a few questions
cill h<i found the horses were
lound to he stolen and arrested
i he darkies. They soon confess-
ed. One of the horses belonged to
-eorge Jones and the other to
lim Riggins, both living near
Ledbetter. A thief in this
jounty knows better than to go
to Ed Ellis and try to dispose of
■stolen property, but these were
strangers in this part of the
country and knew no better than
co taokle Ed about the third
man after they got to town.
The examining trials were
held Monday morning before
Justice of Peace, W. X. Heslep,
tnd they were bound over in the
sum of $500, each to appear be-
fore the November grand jury.
