who shared the life of Jesus, the Mes-
siah, in varied ways. Mrs. Stidham
changed costumes by using mantles
and shawls over a basic long colorful
dress.
"The Messiah", a recent novel from
authentic research was given dramati-
cally as she stood near the assembled
group of residents and invited guests.
Following the message a quiet time
was spent around a table where cook-
ies and punch were served by Marie
Sprinkle and Jean Young.
Then to end the busy month of
varied activities, the wha-hoo tourna-
ment was ended when Stella Byers
won the small trophy, over finalists,
Sprinkles, McWhirter, Barlow and
Duffy.
"The Hill Billy" banquet stopped
even wha-hoo playing on Thursday
evening. The dining room was trans-
formed into a cool oil lamp lighted
old mountain side meetin' place, there
gathered neighbors for a ham and
yarn, and fixins’ dinner all dressed,
some what like those days, Billy Boy
the Big Boy in cut off overalls, and
slouch hat, Madaline, much padded
"over halls" corn cob pipe 'en all,
Marie and especially Nelda, the busy
'ole country house wife, aprons and
hair knotted in the back, the kitchen
crew, led by Becky who danced to
any and all music as she plodded
along with her bag on stick.
Then, dinner over, the entertain-'
ment was the return of the 17 member
"band" of senior citizens of the Com-
munity School centered group who
reside in small towns, Nevada, Lavon
and others. Their musical instruments
are as interesting as the members who
tambourine, wash board, wash tub
jinglebell, French harp and sing their
way through familiar oldies. On the
piano is a lady with a great alto and
natural by ear (or music) loud piano.
A wonderful bunch!! I said "senior
citizens". Who would know? Smart
in blue jerseys and white pants, fresh
hair do's, they go every where, even
recently to Oklahoma City.
Louise Barlow was persuaded to
join them up front with her "Bill Bai-
ley won't you please come Home",
and I went along with her as support
(as if she needed it) from a recent
production here. Elsie Leatherwood
and I responded to the invitation to
take part by performing, she with the
bazooka and I, the wash board - - - and
who would know that we here are
senior citizens, every one looking at
somebody else, like Ruth in her short
ruffled skirt and every body else pure
country.
A fun night
See you next week.
