New School Program
To Be Launched,
Student Postal Week
A new school program,
initially designed to provide
third, fourth and fifth grade
pupils with a wide-ranging
study of America’s mail
system, will be launched during
Student Postal Week, March 25-
30, the Postal Service an-
nounced today.
The purpose of the program is
two-fold, according to Post-
master General E.T. Klassen.
“Effective mail service
depends to a great extent on the
customer’s knowledge of how to
use the mails effectively,”
Klassen said. “The place to
begin teaching that is in the
schools, where our future
customers are.
“In addition, we believe the
program represents a
significant contribution to the
education of our youth. An
important part of every school
