The Brewer Junior Varsity and Freshmen Cheerleaders
attended a Universal Cheerleaders Association camp at
East Texas State in Commerce July 22-26. During cheer
evaluations the Junior Varsity was awarded three red
ribbons for excellent performance and two blue ribbons
for superior performance. The Freshmen received one
red excellent ribbon and four blue superior ribbons.
In addition, both squads were finalists in the cheer
competition and were awarded gold superior ribbons.
The squads also won six spirit sticks.
Procedures
purpose of this procedure is to secure at the first
possible level prompt and equitable resolution of a student
complaint alleging sex di scrimination in violation of Title
IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972.
In this procedure, "days" means calendar days.
Complaints shall be processed in accordance with the fol-
-lowing procedures:

Junior Varsity Squad members are: Mimi Coffey,
Marney Collins, Patty Coppinger, Missy Duncan. Karri
Hughes, and Tammy Johnson. Freshmen cheerleaders
are Krist Buenger, Ann Dulaney, Tracy Hutchings, Debbie
Sullivan, Jenny Susan, and Crystal Trefger.

Complaints shall be presented orally to the student's
teacher or principal within fourteen days of the time
when the student first knew, or should have known, of
the situation occasioning the complaint. The teacher
or principal and the student shall attempt to resolve
the matter informally.
The informal decision rendered by the teacher or prin-
cipal shall be deemed to be accepted by the student
unless the student files a formal complaint in accord-
ance with the requirements of Level One.
If the student 1s not satisfied with the action taken
at the informal level, the student shall within four-
teen days after the informal meeting file a complaint
in writing with the principal. The written complaint
shall contain:
a. A detailed statement of the complaint and evidence
in its support, as applicable.
b. The specific District policy or administrative
regulation Involved in the complaint, if any.
c. The specific remedy sought by the student.
d. The signature of the student.
Within seven days after receipt of the written com-
plaint, the principal shall notify the student 1n
writing of the date and time of a hearing. The prin-
cipal shall hold the hearing and render a decision in
writing to the student within fourteen days after re-
ceipt of the written complaint.
The written decision rendered by the principal _hall
be deemed to be accepted by the student unless the
student requests a hearing before the Superintendent
in accordance with the requirements of Level Two.
If the student is not satisfied with the written deci-
sion rendered by the principal, the student shall with-
in fourteen days file in writing with the Superinten-
dent a notice of appeal.
Within seven days after receipt of the notice of ap-
peal, the Superintendent shall notify the student in
writing of the date and time of a hearing. The Super-
intendent shall hold the hearing within twenty-one
days after receipt of the notice of appeal.
The written complaint filed by the student at Level
One shall form the basis of the appeal before the Su-
perintendent. The student shall file any additional
information in writing with the Superintendent no
later than seven days prior to the date scheduled for
the hearing.
The failure of the student to attend in person the
hearing before the Superintendent shall be deemed as
an acceptance by the student of the written decision
rendered by the principal at Level One.
The Superintendent shall render a decision in writing
to the student within fourteen days after the hearing.
The written decision rendered by the Superintendent
shall be deemed to be accepted by the student unless
the student requests a hearing before the Board in ac-
cordance with the requirements of Level Three.
If the student is not satisfied with the written deci-
sion rendered by the Superintendent, the student shall
within fourteen days file in writing with the Superin-
tendent a notice of appeal to the Board.
Within seven days after receipt of the notice of appeal
to the Board, the Superintendent shall notify the stu-
dent in writing of the date and time of a hearing be-
fore the Board. The Board shall hold the hearing with-
in thirty days after receipt by the Superintendent of
the notice of appeal to the Board.
