CONST ANCE R. ALE XANDER, 1984-85 American Business
Women's Association’s National Woman of the Year, will
be the speaker at the fifth annual Tarrant County ABWA
Friends meeting. The event will honor all Women of the
Year from area chapters and will be held Sept. 21 at
Ridglea Country Club.
Ms. Alexander is psychotherapist with the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the John-
son Space Center. She won the title last October and was
preseated to approximately ABWA members who attended
the national convention held in Detroit.
The ABWA is a national organization composed of more
than 2,100 chapters throughout the United States and Puerto
Rico with over 112,000 members. The objective of the
association is to promote the professional, educational,
cultural and social advancement of business women. Last
year, ABWA chapters awarded more than $2.5 million
in scholarships and over $400,000 was awarded through
grants and interest free loans through their national ABWA
scholarship fund.
TCAF has 18 chapters in Tarrant County. The group
meets quarterly at Ridglea Country Club for a luncheon
meeting. As a group they have donated to the New Horizon
Ranch Center for abused children, the Harris Hospital
Burn Center and to the Cancer Hot Line.
This year’s officers are Mrs. Joanne Palmer, chair,
man; Miss Judv Robinson, secretary, and Ms. Frances
Simpson, treasurer. Mrs. Irma Howard is chairman for
the brunch.
