Elementary schools in the White Settlement ISD recently
held their annual History Fair. Theme for the fair was the
Texas Sesquicentennial. All entries depicted some aspect
of this theme. Projects included the Alamo, the Ses-
quicentennial Wagon Train, Indian relics, forts and famous
Texans.
The projects were completed by fifth grade students
at West, Liberty and North. They were long term pro-
jects which were done at home with the help of the teachers
as only a consultant.
Bob Salinas, assistant city manager; Bethany Hills,
head librarian at White Settlement Library, and Larry
Marshall, president of the school board, served as judges.
They judged the projects on authenticity, originality,
research and construction. First, second, third place and
honorable mention ribbons were awarded in each class
on the campuses. The projects were on display at open
house during Public School Week early in March.
