Old Fashioned Christmas equals old fashioned fun

Several people headed out to Houston Square Saturday for
some shopping, good food, and fun at the Old Fashioned
Christmas. This year the Chamber of Commerce reported there
were about 180 booths on hand at the event.
There were all kinds of arts and crafts available for purchase,
many dealing in holiday decoration. Christmas tree ornaments
of all colors, shapes, and sizes were being sold. Others sold dolls
and hand-made angels in white, silver and gold.
One booth selling plants had several poinsettias out for sale.
It was also obvious by the number of people walking around
with Christmas wreaths tucked under their arms or peeking out
of their bags and strollers that there were several booths selling
them without problem.
If people weren’t shopping for Christmas decorations, but
I rather gifts instead, they had many beautiful items to choose
from. Beautifully wrapped preservatives were available and one
booth was selling ornate writing instruments without difficulty.
Another booth had several books out for sale.
There were also various booths selling food to everyone who
had worked up an appetite by spending the day shopping.
Gorditas, fajitas, hamburgers, hotdogs and Alsatian sausage
were sold.
For dessert many baked goods were available, and not one,
but two booths sold funnel cakes. An old fashioned Christmas
wouldn’t be complete without hot chocolate, which was also
sold..

Various tumbling and dance classes performed in the after- Wilton)
noon to the delight of many onlookers.
Several karate students put on a show where they rescued
Santa from being attacked by thugs.
The Medina Valley High School Panthermoniums were on
hand to talk about their robotics competitions.
The weather cooperated wonderfully, as well.
, Although it rained the day before and the day after, it was a
clear Christmas-like day on Saturday in Castroville.
