Burglars entered the store of
T. P. Gilley near the Santa Pe
depot Monday and stole several
of the best suits of clothes, some
tine silk shirts,about three pairs
of tine shoes, hose, and other
articles, seemingly taking his
time to select just what he
wanted. Entrance was gaiued
through the front door by
breaking out a small piece of
glass and opening the door
through the hole. The door
was found opened by Murray
Broaddus about 4 o'clock Tues-
day morning while he was on
his way home from liev. Davis'
residence, and he phoned Mr.
Gilley, who came down and dis-
covered the loss. Officers were
notified and went to work on the
case.

The Cuitare Club
The final business meeting of
the Culture Club for the year
was held Thursday, May 1. The
president, Mrs, Whitehurst,
tilled the chair and the minutes
were read by Mr. Parkhill.
There was a considerable
amount of business to be trans-
acted which was speedily dis-
patched that the Club might
have the pleasure of hearing the
reports of the delegates to the
Fourth District meeting which
convened at La Grange.
Mrs. McCarty gave a full and
enthusiastic account of the Fed-
eration much to the enjoyment
of her hearers. The Club was
made to feel that a town might
be considered fortunate to have
such a meeting within her gates
and the Culture Club is looking
forward to the time that may be
ripe to invite the meeting of
Fourth District to Caldwell.
Mrs. McCarty said in .speak
ing ol' Miss Annie Webb Blan-
ton's address: "It was worth
my trip to La Grange to hear
her alone."
The Club wishes to remind
every one again of the Memorial
services at Wood row Park, May

1 one of the papers read be sent
to The Ledger for publication,
and it will appear next week.
A vote of thanks from the
Club was expressed by Mrs.
Whitehurst to be given Mr.
Rankin for publishing the Club
reports and the help and courti-
sies shown in that way during
the year.
Before the close of the ineet-
ihg Mrs. Whitehurst in a few
appropriate words presented a
lovely vase of American Beauty
roses to Mrs. Woods and her
sister, Miss Laura Henslee, ex-
pressing the appreciation of the
Club for the^poBpitality shown
it in their lovely home.
