Mrs. Gibson Goes Home.
Mrs. Sallie Gibson who was robbed
Cf 161000 on the Salado near his
city several weeks ago has returned
to her home in Columbia S. C. on a
visit to her aged mother and will be
gone for an indefinite period. She will
return to the city when her presence
is needed and will respond to a call
from the local district attorney. How
long she will remain away could not
be estimated by District Attorney Ba-
ker. Before leaving she informed him
that she would return immediately
upon the receipt of word from him.
Harris In El Paso.
M. C. Harris United States deputy
Internal revenue collector has gone
to Ei Paso on a business trip in con-
nection with the duties of his office
and will be absent about two weeks.
In his absence however those who
desire to apply tor stamps or licenses
can have their requirements filled by
Morris H. Boerner Mr Harris' assist-
ant who will be in the office during
regular office hours.

son has gone for his vacation and is
at the coast trying to keep cool and

Takes Negro to Tyler.
Fred Lancaster United States dep-
uty marshall will leave tonight for Ty-
ler with the negro Joseph J. Brown
who was arrested here several days
ago on the charge of embezzlement
and forgery of a money order. The
alleged offense was committed at
Palestine and the case is transferred
to Tyler on a writ of removal.

Wants to Be a Citizen.
Gustav Weber who has been living
in this country twenty years made ap-
plication in the office of the United
States district clerk this morning de-
claring it to be his purpose to become
a good and true American citizen.

Charles Ives formerly a well known
San Antonio boy who is now in St.
Louis in business is in the city on a
visit.

Zinc Mine Progresses.
Jack Mahoney interested with other
Ban Antonians in the Santa Gertru-
des zinz mine at Musquiz Mexico is
In the city conferring with the as-
sociates. Mr. Mahoney brings encour-
aging reports of the progress of the
work of developing the mine. A new
and complete pumping outfit has been
installed and ft is expected that the
ahlpment of ore will begin in a shoit
time.

road from St. Louis. In the party is
General Humphrey quartermaster gen-

AMUSEMENTS
Big Tent Theater.
Another large audience surprising-
ly large for Monday night witnessed
the second performance of "A Wise
Fool” at the Big Tent theater last
■light. As on the previous mgnt the
play made a decidedly favorable im-
pression and all of the members of the
cast came in for a share of the gener-
ous and deserved applause.
Tonight the bill of the show will
again be changed and “A Bachelor's
Romance" one of the beautiful crea-
tions in which Sol Smith Russell
shone so well is to be presented.
The new specialties put on between
the acts are of a very excellent order
and the new moving pictures continue
to attract.
Albert Taylor Company.
The Albert Taylor Stock company
continues to grow in popularity at the
Electric park theater. Mr. Taylor has
always been a great favorite with lady
theater patrons. His wit as well as
the emotion he puts into his acting al-
ways delights them. Last night was
"ladies’ free night” and as a result
the theater was filled.
“A Fool and His Money" an old
popular favorite of Taylor’s was tae
the bill and it was more enjoyable
than ever. The company is now bet
ter costumed and has better scenery
than at any time since it has been in
existence. Everything is new. The
gowns of the women are elaborate and
the men are outfitted in the latest fash-
ion. There is also special scenery and
every detail Is exactly correct.
Miss Corinne Snell the leading lady
has broken into immediate populari-
ty. She is of charming manner and
appearance her voice is attractive and
her acting of a high order of merit.
The company is changing the bill at
the park nightly. This will be done of
the first two weeks of the engagement.
Some well known comedies and
dramas will be produced.
Electric Park.
"The Doom of the Golden Citv” has
closed its doors in order that the car-
penters can remodel it. The work has
been begun and on next Sunday "The
St. Louis Tornado." a groat scenic
production similar to that of the Gold-
en City will be produced.
“Hell's Gate” is oncn and is doing
a fine business. This concession
promises to b° particularly attractive
on account of its mysteries.

Now that the shops are so full of
dainty muslins and tub fabrics every
| girl and her mother are thinking of
frocks which may do service in the
days to come. Here is a dress not
elaborate and yet most pleasing for n
girl in her teens. It may serve as par-
ty graduation or church gown if
daintily developed or for a general
wear frock of gingham or chambray.
The neck may be finished in square
outline and the sleeves as shown
with ruffles of lace and sleeve caps of
the material or with high neck and
puff sleeves long or short for the
every-day frock. The skirt is in five
gores and adorned with a straight
flounce. It is joined to the waist and
may be finished with a belt of tbe
material or a ribbon girdle. The me-
dium size calls for 8% yards of 32-
Inch goods.

bv Rev. Buckner Harris.
After a wedding dinner the happy
pair took the enight train for Fort
Worth where Mr. Lyman is engaged
in busines and where they will make

Loses an Eye.
John Leker a steel worker while at
work on the Moore building on Hous-
ton street was struck in the eye with
a red hot rivet and seriously injured.
The eye was practically knocked out
of his head. The accident happened
while he was engaged in riveting the
steel supports of the building. In do-
ing this the rivets are driven in while
red hot with a sledge hammer. A
glancing blow is said to have caused
the rivet to fly out striking the un-
fortunate man in the eye.
