DECATUR — Suicide has been ruled in the death
of a teen-age boy found hanged in the Wise County
jail Sunday .
According to an autopsy report issued by the
Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas, Eddie Carol
Woods, 17, of Chico, died from asphyxia by hanging.
Woods was found hanging by two towels tied to the
cell bars above the door to his cell at about 4:30 p.m.
Sunday.
Woods had been in jail since Oct. a, charged with
felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and
facing a $2,000 bond. He bad recently been released
from a Texas Department of Corrections prison on a
similar charge, according to Chief Deputy Jerf
McCasland

for ROTC trips
The Denton chapter of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars has donated $509 to the Denton High School
Air Force ROTC to help pay transportation costs for
cadet trips, Maj. Ron Ivy, director of the ROTC
program, said
“We’re receiving community support from
several areas, and we appreciate it," he said.
The Fine Arts Theater has offered to give free
admission to cadets with identification cards if the
cadet is accompanied by a date, the date receives a
half-price ticket, Ivy said
“More and more community groups are
recognizing and supporting the ROTC.” he said.
