The 302 game . management
officers of the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department will be
hustling Nov. 18 to keep up with
the state’s 500,000 opening-day
turkey and deer hunters.
Consequently, there will not
be much time for patrolling the
thousands of miles of lakes and
rivers to enforce the Water
Safety Act.
In addition to the 1,100 game
and fish laws in Texas, all
GMOs have the responsibility of
enforcing water safety laws.
The primary purpose of the
law is to reduce the number of
drownings and loss of property
on our waterways.
To enforce the law, the Parks
and Wildlife Department has
added $1. 6 million to its an-
nual law enforcement budget
for water safety equipment and
operation expenses.
