The first play to begiven this yeat
____.___. _______J at the Wichita
Theatre. The play has a rather
clever plot with an old maid, a but-
ler with a case of exaggerated ego
and a stage struck maid to furnish
the comedy The entire plot is
woven around mistaken identities, the
kind of play where everybody thinks
everybody else is somebody when
where the wastrels of society squan-
der their substance in sensual orgies
and turn night into day. This play
waa written by a good 'woman. A
man collaborated. This must have
been necessary. A good woman can
make the rounds of poverty flats.
She cannot live deep into vice's
reals if she is at all squeamish.
Tollows: --------reals if she is at all squeamish.
" The ‘Traffic’ is a problemplay. The Traffic’ is a stage sermon, al-
ft deals with economic questions as
well as white slavery. It introduces
to the nla n 1— nuliltc real scenes
from squallid quarters of honest pow
ertye fighting for bread as well as
scenes from gilded palaces of Infamy
though it deals with forbidden things.
It is an educator, although the
prudes of society may object to lift-
ings-olfthelid on creatures whose
greed drives women who are compel'-
ed to toil to sell their souls as a last
resort in order that their bodies may
be fed. They have the comforts or
good homes, all the luxuries that
money can buy. They are not ex-
posed to the insults of human beasts
nor to the temptations which beset
the tired feet of the daughters of pov.
erty and toil. There are strong lines
in The Traffic" and naked truths are
told. One is that It Hl impossible to
save a woman who has wallowed in
"the-filth of a life of degradation. For
these unfortunates there may be hope
in the hereafter. There la none here.
Their lives nave been 'broken by
cruel circumstances and the grave
alone offers them surcease from sor-
row and the regret and remorse. "* "

When the Officers and Stock Holders of The WICHITA SOUTHERN LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY need a lawyer, they
hire a Wichita Falls attorney; when they need a physician, they use a Wichita Falls doctor; when they need merchandise,
they buy from local merchants. In fact, they spend their money at home.
WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR LIFE INSURANCE?
The above statement shows that the Wichita Southern Life Insurance Company is not an experiment, but a successful grow- (
ing institution. We have met every requirement of the Texas laws, both as to Standard provisions of policies and as to set-
ting aside the full amount of Reserve necessary to thoroughly protect every Policy Holder, and the Reserve carried by this
Company to protect it’s Policy Holders is exactly the same amount carried by the largest companies in the world, in propor-
tion to the business in force. ’ » ) .
We issue Non-Participating Policies, therefore, our rates are from 36 to 310 per thousand lower than those Companies
which pay dividends to Policy Holders,__________________—---------
