water on the ruins. Fifteen minutes
delay was suffered by the lire depart-
ment in getting a stream of water,
due to the fire plug near the build-

thawed out by a fire of palings torn
from nearby fences.
! The school board will suffer no
loss whatever, according to W. J.
I Bullock, president of the body, as the
property responsibility remained with
the contractors until the completion
and acceptance of the building. All
111contracts were covered by surety
, I bonds calling for the completion and
delivery of the building. The chief
: loss to the schools will be the delay
i in getting into the building, which
was so near completion that they
were planning to go into it in Janu-
ary. It will not be possible to re-
4 build before the beginning of next
_ year's school term. Mr. Bullock stat-
ed that the school board would give
the contractors ample extension of
time on the work to enable them to
collect insurance policies before be-
ginning rebuilding operations.
