/ By KITTY MABRY ____________
t Don and Judy Mabry held the
I family reunion at their home in
Cleveland again this year on
•April 8. The reunion was in honor
»of Ernie and Elfrieda Nentwig.
I Everyone had a good time play-
ling games. There were many
Sthings for the children to do.
: Don Mabry did the barbecue
“cooking, the ladies cooked every-
ething else. This provided some
‘mighty great tasting food. Debo-
•rah Mabry led the gathering in
Sprayer. Three Nentwig children
Scame: James Wentwig and wife
:Molly, E.J. Nentwig, Kitty Mabry.
• Also present were: Ricky Nen-
Itwig, Debbie Nentwig, David
'Mabry and wife Evelyn, Dale
Mabry and wife Devonal. There
‘were six children in attendance.
The oldest to attend was James
'Nentwig, the youngest was Reed
Mickelson.
Bill Mickelson is new to the
■family. When he saw the large
cake with Nentwig on it he asked
•his wife, Keisha, "Who is Nen-
twig?" Keisha replied, "Oh my
goodness Bill, we're at the wrong
reunion!" We sure did laugh, but
swe’ll keep him anyway.
$ Everyone had a good time. The
•ones who didn't get to attend were
'deeply missed. Hope to see you
all next year!
Karen Wendt to Tiger cub orga-
nizer. Patches of office were pre-
sented to these leaders.
The evening came to a close
with a solemn ceremony pre-
sented by the Kiowa Chapter of
the Order of the Arrow, with
Chuck Babb of Brenham as their
advisor. Boy Scouts in this elite
group of campers are elected by
their peers. They are dedicated to
service and preservation of Indian
traditions and way of life.
A campfire ceremony was the
focal point of the evening activ-
ity. Members of the O.A., in full
Indian costume, performed a spe-
cial ceremony and presented a
painted trophy arrow to Thomas,
Cole and Eric. Following the pre-
sentation these boys, including
James Sneed crossed the "bridge
to Scouting". They were accepted
into Boy Scout Troop 548 by As-
sistant Scoutmaster, Carrell
Wendt and Advancement Chair-
man, Steve Richardson.
The end of the cub scouting
year does not mean the end of ac-
tivities and fun. Pack 548 has
many fun and exciting things
happening over the next few
months. April 18 will be the next
pack meeting, when preparations
will be made for the May Family
Campout. Summertime activities
will include: a raingutter regalia
race in June, a Fishing tournament
in July and a swimming party in
August.
David Crockett District Cub
Day Camp will be held June 5-9
at Camp Brosig. Activities will
focus on ecology, environment
and conservation. Registration
forms can be obtained from Karen
Wendt, 885-6719.
• Pack 548 offers a year round
program to its members. However,
the program offered depends
completely on the amount of vol-
unteer leaders available to pro-
vide supervision.
Congratulations were extended
to Thomas Koy, James Sneed,
Cole Stastny, and Eric Weiss for
a successful career in Cub Scout-
ing. Cub leaders look forward to
assisting them with their new ad-
ventures in Boy Scouts and await
to hear of their advancement to
Eagle.
