Petrusek-TeykI family reunion held in Sealy Sunday
A gathering of sixty-two mem-
bers and friends of the Petrusek-
TeykI families met in reunion at
the Sealy American Legion Hall
Sunday, July 9. They came from
numerous places in Texas and
from Louisiana and Florida.
After the Rev. David Hambrick
asked the invocation and bless-
ing, the assembly filed from the
hall into the kitchen for a sump-
tuous smorgasbord style meal of
meats, vegetables, salads and p
desserts.
Beau Petrusek of Houston, pres-
ident, held the meeting following
the feast. He began with a brief
memorial and period of silence in
memory of Orville Jan, who
passed away earlier this year.
An interesting bingo game pro-
vided by Ruth Jurik of Beaumont
was enjoyed during the program
penod.
Emily Teyki of Sugar Land and
her brother, Alvin Jan of Pleak
were recognized as the most ma-
ture lady and man in attendance.
Bryan Langlotz, 3 1/2 year old son
of Craig and Gina Langlotz of
Georgetown, was the youngest
child.
Ben and Minnie Petrusek of
Metairie, Louisiana, were the
longest married, and Wayne and
Fay Toellner of Wallis were mar-
ried the shortest period of time.
Betty and Erwin Petrusek came
the farthest distance, from Fort
Lauderdale, Florida.
The family of the late Leo and
Anna Petrusek Jan had the largest
representation, with 22 present.
The family of the late John and
Marie Petrusek had 17 in atten-
dance.
Beau Petrusek and Wilma
Petrusek were re-elected presi-
dent and secretary-treasurer. Craig
Langlotz was elected vice presi-
dent for the ensuing year.
The assembly voted to meet
again on the second Sunday in
July at the Sealy American Le-
gion Hall.
Ben Petrusek gave a brief ge-,
nealogy of the Petrusek clan,
which according to data obtained
from a resume from a man in
Czechoslovakia, dates back to
1590. The Petrusek name report-
edly had its origin as Miazga,
which later became Petr, then Pe-
tras, and transcended to Petrusek
in 1748, and was recognized as
the House 159 Generation.
Records indicate that Vetet Mi-
azga took the Petrusek name in
1770 in House 159 '(that’s how
families were known) in Hovezi
and moved his family to Ratibor
several years later.
