MARCHER CITY, Texas, April 1.—
Quite a number of candidates for
county offices have announced this
year. R. K. Dycus and H. V Pears-
ton of Archer City and G. A. Hollo-
way of Holliday are seeking elece
tion to the office of county Judge
and ex-officio school -superntend-
ent: R. H. (Cowboy) Mumford and
C. E. Goodwin are candidates for
sheriff and tax collector: Clyde E.
Taylor, district and county clerk;
W. C. Thomas, tax assessor, and
Miss Viva Hudson, county treasurer,
all serving their first term, are
candidates for reelection without
opposition.
All the present county commis-
sioners are out for reelection, but
all have opponents. Judge E. G.
Thornton of Archer City is making
withe race for district judge of the
doth district, which comprises
Archer, Young and Wichita coun-
ties. He has no opposition so far.

handsign of fire, and sang "Wohelo
for Aye" Edith Crump. Edna
Skaggs and Therressa Kauffman
repeated In unison "We Are the
Camp Fire Maidens." *
The candle lighting ceremony wes
given by Charlotte Kennedy light-
ing light of “Work,” Charlie Mae
Ebner. “Health,” and Nell Duffy,
“Love.” A group of girls in cere-
monials sang "Burn. Fire, Burn."
with motions. Roll call was given
in the form of "Totem Pole" with 1
Miss Pauline Newman, graduate of
the guardians training class, draped
in an Indian blanket, appears as
the human totem polo. The symbol
of the local headquarters was ex-
plained and pinned to the blanket
with one member from each group
giving the name and explaining the
symbol of the group and pin dug it
on the totem pole. The Camp Fire
system of honors was explained,
ahowing honor beads and leather
honors to be symbols of accomplish,
ments.
The national birthday honor was
awarded to members who have done
definite work in beautifying some
corner In their home which waa
particularly . theirs. Some made
draperies, washed woodwork, revar-
nished floors, made pillows, lamps,
and many other things were accom-'
plished.
Those receiving the honors were:
Therressa 'Kauffman, Pauline
Coombe, Dora Jeannette Nix, Mar-
jorie Jones, Lois Brackett, Mildred
Jamison, Laura Mae Costley, Edith
Brown, Charlie Mae Ebner, Mra,
Frank W. Jones, Mrs. T. N. Colli-
gan, Jean Fisk, Alma Richardson,
Mary Leonard, Charlotte Kennedy,
Maxine Duffey, Neil Duffey and
Mra Anna Barnhill.
The special honor for points turn-
ed in for nature lore chart were
awarded to Alma Richardson, Char-
lie Mae Ebner and Pauline Coombe.
Great Interest was shown In the
awarding of honor beads, when
'some 20 members received honor
beads in various crafts. Response
to questions put by the executive
showed honors earned for washing
and drying dishes once a day for
two months, taking cars of baby for
an average of one hour a day for
one month, cooking two Bunday
dinners while mother rests, airing
and making a bed once a day for
two months, in home craft, for ev-
ery dollar earned and spent on own

Jalonlo street Wednesday afternoon.
