LIQUOR TAX — Abilene’s rejection of legalized
liquor sales Tuesday doesn’t mean there will be no
liquor taxes collected there, the state comptroller s
department says. The comptroller reported earlier
this week that a total of $71,167 in mixed drink taxes
was collected from private clubs in Abilene for the
October-December quarter of 1975. The city gets to
keep 15 per cent of the mixed drink tax collected
within its boundaries, or $10,675. The remainder goes
to the state general revenue fund.

The armed man then ran into the lobby, ordering the

to give him all the money in the cash drawer.
Shinn meanwhile left his office from another door, ran into
the club and told the manager there to notify police.
The suspect escaped with the money bag before police
arrived at the scene.
He was described as about six feet tall, heavily mustached,
