Better Homes & Gardens Contest:
Linda Henderson wins kitchen of appliances
Local resident, Linda Henderson
of Cuero,, will receive a kitchen of
appliances from Frigidaire, thanks
to her creative response in helping
the homeless. Henderson was
selected as the grand prize winner
in a contest sponsored by Better
Homes and Gardens magazine and
Frigidaire.
Participants were asked "If you
could invite three people from all
of history to dinner to discuss the
ways to help homeless families, challenged divergent populations to
who would they be and why?" A $5
donation to the Better Homes
Foundation, a national non-profit
organization founded by the
magazine to help homeless families
worldwide, was required.

Flower
Aug. 27-28
The Victoria College Drama
Department will present Abe Bur-
rows’ comedy "Cactus Flower" on
August 27-28 and September 2-4 at
X p.m. in the Johnson Symposium
Center located on the college cam-
pus.
The two-act comedy is based on
a play by Pierre Barillet and Jen-
Pierre Gredy and presents the
farce-like antics of lovers. Set in
uptown and downtown Manhattan,
the story centers around Dr. Julian
Winston, a dentist who is leading a
double life.
Tickets may be purchased begin-
ning on August 16 at the college
bookstore, X a.m. to 1 p m, and in
the Fine Arts Building, Room 115,
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
