Orange Marmalade Pecan Cake
5 Extra large eggs, separated
| 2 Cups sugar, divided
1 Cup butter
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 1/2 Teaspoons vanilla
1 Cup buttermilk
1 Teaspoon baking soda
2Cups flour
1 Cup finely chopped pecans
Have all ingredients at room temperature. Beat Egg whites until soft
peaks form. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and beat until the consistency
of meringue Cream butter, add remaining sugar, salt and vanilla. Add
egg yolks one at a time, until consistency of whipped cream. Stir bak-
ing soda into buttermilk. Add alternately with flour, beginning and end-
■ ing with four. Fold in egg white mixture and 1 cup pecans. Bake in
three 9-inch greased and floured plans in preheated 325 degree oven for
35 minutes. Let cool in pans five minutes. Invert on rack and cool com-
! pletely.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
1/4 Cup butter
6 Ounces cream cheese
1 1/2 Teaspoons vanilla
Approximately 1 1/2 pounds powdered sugar
1 1/4 Cups orange marmalade
1/2 Cup chopped pecans
Cream together the butter, cream cheese and vanilla. Add 1/2 cup mar-
malade. Gradually add the powdered sugar. On the first layer, spread
1/4 cup marmalade, then spread with small amount of frosting. Repeat
with second layer. Top with third layer. Frost top and sides with cream
cheese mixture. Spread with remaining 1/2 cup marmalade only on top.
Sprinkle with 1/2 cup pecans.

honored with a Miscellaneous
Shower on Saturday, August 21 at
the Cuero First Baptist Church Par-
lor.

Pauline Kuecker, Dianna Kay Lag-

an ecru lace cloth with a mauve
overlay. The table was accented
with a summer straw hat draped in
tulle, navy ribbon and mauve
flowers. The refreshment table was
covered with an embroidered
damask cloth. The centerpiece con-
sisted of a mirrored arrangement of
a five tiered brass candelabra
entwined with English ivy and ac-
cented with mauve flowers.
More than 75 guests were served
brunch dainties, punch and coffee.
Special guests were Pat Wanjura,
mother of the bride-elect; Carol
Watson, mother of the prospective
groom; Ethel Nolen, grandmother
of the bride-elect and Luella Wat-
son, grandmother of the prospec-
