Sterling W. Logeman
Sterling William Logeman, 66,
of Cuero died Tuesday, Sept. 7,
1993.
He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in
Cuero to the late George H. and
Minna Steitzel Logeman. He was a
Korean War veteran. Mr. Logeman
was a heavy equipment operator for
DeWitt County Precinct No. 4, a
rancher and a route salesman for
Eichholz Oil Company. He was a
member of St. John Lutheran
Church in Westhoff.
Survivors include his wife, Vcr-
nell Krause Logeman and sister,
Lorine Rangnow of Meyersville.
He was preceded in death by a
sister, Roseline K. Hardt.
Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters,
Minnie L. Hopkins and Ernestine
Hopkins, both of Cuero; nine
grandchildren; 17 great-
grandchildren and 16 great-great-
grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at
Brothers Chapel Methodist Church
with the Rev. J C. Williams of-
ficiating.
Burial followed in Hillside
Cemetery under direction of
Jamison Funeral Home.

Johnnie B. Harris, 94, of Cuero
died Friday, Sept. 3, 1993.
She was born July 29, 1899, in
Cuero. The homemaker was a
member of Brothers Chapel

Alfonso Campos Anzaldua Jr.,
65, of Cuero, died Sunday, Sept. 5,
1993.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday
at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic
Church with the Rev. Daniel Giorgi
officiating.
Pallbearers were Jasper Quintcr-
ro Jr., Sammy Salinas, Eric Quin-
leno, Jerry De La Rosa, Jason An-
zaldua and Pete Anzaldua Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Marly
Hernandez, Weldon Goebel, Joe
Sosa, Jasper Quinteno Sr., Bobby
Heyer, Beto Reyes, Dr. John Davis,
Dr. Heard, employees and retired
employees of Brentex Mills.
She was born March 15, 1924, in
Goliad to Alfred and Azilee
Franklin Little.
She was a homemaker and mem-
ber of Brothers Chapel Methodist
Church.
Survivors include her husband,
Joseph J. Ross; daughters, Dorothy
F. Brown and Ivory J. Eldridge,
both of Cuero, and Carol A. Pick-
ens of Austin; sons, Russell P. Ross
and Derrick Ross, both of Cuero,
Joseph R. Ross of Victoria and
Mitchell Ross Marlton, N.J.
Services were at 10 a.m. Satur-
day at Brothers Chapel Methodist
Church with the Rev. J.C. Williams
officiating.
Burial followed in Woodmen
Cemetery under direction of
Jamison Funeral Home.

grandchildren.

chapel with the Rev. Daniel Giorgi
officialing.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wed-
nesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church with he Rev.
Daniel Giorgi officiating.

Doris L. Ross, 69, of Cuero died
Wednesday, Sept. 8,1993.
Recycling contest
at Cuero library
Cuero Public Library will hold a
poster contest with the theme "City
Wide Waste Oil Recycling".
Every poster must advertise the
City’s Waste Oil and Oil Filter
Recycling Program.
The waste oil collection centers
will be in the Municipal Park ad-
jacent to the City Vehicle Main-
tenance Facility and at the Citizens
Collection Center on Victoria
Highway.
A prize of S50 U.S. Savings
Bond per age group will be
awarded for kindergarten to second
grade; third grade through fifth and
Junior High through high school.
Poster board, glue, crayons and
pencils will be available at the
library. All work must be done at
the library and turned into the
Librarian Barbara Jacob.
Library hours are Monday thru
Frisbie, 88, of Yorktown died
Friday, Sept. 10, 1993.
He was born July 27, 1905, in
Cheapside to the late Louis F. and
Ella Bowen Frisbie. He married
Eva M. Frisbie on Aug. 11, 1928 in
Cuero. He was one of the founders
of Yorktown Community Bank,
and served as president and chair-
man of the board. He was a mem-
ber of the Yorktown City Council
and was also mayor. He was in-
strumental in providing civic im-
provements including the United
Methodist Church.
Mr. Frisbie was chairman of the
pastoral committee and served as
past worshipful master for two
terms, was chairman of administra-
tive board and was district steward.
He was a rancher and banker and
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and
Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.
Contestants may bring materials
from home including magazine Cameron Lodge No. 76 AF&AM,
clippings, pictures, stencils, Hermann sons Lodge No. 36 and
markers, map colors and paints.

Bob G. Caskey
Bob G. Caskey, 66, of Cuero
died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1993.
He was born Dec. 1, 1926, in
Sapulpa, Okla., to the late Robert
B. and Hazel Beatrice Bennett Cas-
key. He was owner of Caskey Real
Estate and Doll House Cafe in
Cuero and was an independent oil
operator. He previously worked for
A-1 Bit & Tool Company, Chris-
tenson Bit Company, and Hycalog-
Rucker for 20 years in sales and
marketing.
He was instrumental in bringing
Babe Ruth Flax Baseball League to
Cuero, was a rancher and pilot
member of Cuero Golf Association
and a member of First Presbyterian
Church in Cuero.
Survivors include his wife, Sally
Ranger Avery Caskey; daughter,
Sally Jean Garris of Houston; sons,
John Michael Caskey of Houston
and Robert 0. Caskey of Cuero;
stepsons, Paul Avery and Chris
Avery, both of Kerrville and Tim
Avery of Waxahachie; 19
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
first wife, Minnie Nell Winfield
Caskey in 1975; and brother, Ralph
Caskey.
Visitation was from 6:30-8 p.m.

CHS student honored
The Cuero High School cheer-
leaders recently returned from a
National Cheerleaders Association
summer camp workshop where
squad member Amanda Taulbee
received top recognition as being
selected for the NCA All-American
Team.
The workshop was held at Texas
Lutheran College (Seguin, TX.)
and attracted over 370 cheerleaders
from the surrounding area.
The National Cheerleaders As-
sociation is sponsoring die "All-
American Team" award at each of
over 500 NCA workshops held
across the United States. The win-
ners were selected for this award
above all other cheerleaders at the
workshop
their
cheerleading technique, leadership,
and all-around cheerleading ability.
The presentation of the NCA
"All-American Team" award came
at the completion of a full
workshop of training on cheerlead-
ing technique, cheers, chants,
jumps, partner stunts, and
pyramids, as well as a leadership
program for sportsmanship, crowd
participation, responsibilities, or-
ganization and dedication.
The National Cheerleaders As-
sociation has been conducting sum-
mer workshops for over 40 years,
teaching over 125,000 students
each year on the art of cheerlead-
ing.

Descendants of the Douglas and
Beverly families held a family
reunion August 14 at the Cuero
Municipal Park.
A barbecue dinner was served to
more than 80 family members and
guests.
Family members attending were
from Yoakum, Cuero, Houston,
Smiley, Victoria, San Antonio,
Meyersville honored
The 1,048 Texas school districts
have been named to one of four ac-
creditation categories: Exemplary,
Recognized, Accredited, and Ac-
credited Warned.
The designations were based on
various criteria related to student
performance.
Meyersville and 23 other dis-
tricts have been named to the
Recognized group. Recognized dis-
tricts are performing within 10% of
the state standard. Only one district
was named to the Exemplary
group. It was Doss I.S.D. with an
enrollment of 26 students. The
majority of the schools in the
Recognized group are small
schools. Highland Parks with an
enrollment of 4500 was the largest
school in the group.

Pearl Villarreal, 62, of Cuero
died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1993.
She was born Nov. 12, 1930, in
San Benito to the late Vincent and
Lucy Colunga Morin Reyna. She
was a waitress and a member of
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic
Church.
