The Cuero Record
Punt, Pass & Kick
The Cuero Lions Club annual Punt, Pass & Kick Contest will be
held September 11 at Gobbler Stadium. The competition are for
children ages 7 through 12, and application forms can be picked up
at their school. For more information call Glen Portis at 277-3626.
Hermann Sons to meet
The Cuero Hermann Sons Family Lodge No. 82-4 will hold their
regular meeting on Tuesday, September 7 at 6 p.m. at the
Barbecue Station.
Little League meeting
The Cuero Little League organization will hold its annual meet-
ing on Monday, September 13 at 7 p.m. at the Little League
Complex. All interested persons are invited to attend.
Blood drive Sept. 8
A blood drive will be held Wednesday, September 8 from 4 to 6
.p.m. at Whataburger for Ronald Jenkins. Door prizes will be
awarded. Other blood drives are scheduled for November 2 and
December 28. For more information, call 275-3457.
Pioneer/Post Oak
4-H meeting Sept. 14
Pioneer/Post Oak 4-H Club will be holding its first meeting of
the year and invite all interested persons to attend. The meeting
will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 7 p.m. at the Friar Ag
Center.
CFD Auxiliary to meet
September 15
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Cuero Fire Department met August
18, gaining a new member, Pamela Brandstetter. On September 15
the auxiliary will have a salad supper at 7 p.m. and installation of
offices. The Auxiliary will also be assisting with refreshments for
Fire School the Cuero Fire Department will have on September 17
and 18.
TPA meeting Sept. 14
The Travelers Protective Association Post M, will hold its Semi-
Annual Meeting and Supper Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 P.M. at the
Barbecue Station, 114 S. Esplanade, Cuero. All members are invit-
ed to attend.
City schedule change
In observance of Labor Day Holiday, City Hall, and City
Administration Office will be closed Monday, Sept. 6. The sanita-
tion pick up schedule for the week of Sept. 6, through Sept. 10, will
be as follows: The Monday and Thursday routes will be picked up
Tuesday, Sept. 7, and Thursday, Sept. 9. The Tuesday and Friday
routes will be picked up Wednesday, Sept. 8, and Friday, Sept. 10.
The Citizen’s Collection Center will be closed Saturday, Sept. 4,
and Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of the holiday, and will reopen
Tuesday, Sept. 7. Commercial customers with 3 or more pickups
per week will be as usual.
Yorktown Clean-Up
The City of Yorktown will hold its semi-annual Clean-up-Week
on the week of September 13 through Sept. 17. All items are to be
kept separate. Recycle materials such as papers, plastics, glass,
and aluminum cans may be taken to the City Yard on the South
most end of Riedel Street. Brush must be cut to pieces not to
exceed four feet and piled in such manner that it may be picked up
easily. The City will pick up only the locations called into City
Hall. The City will not pick up any commercial operators doing
work within the City limits. For more information, call City Hall

J.C. French P.T.O. raffle
The John C. French P.T.O. will be holding a raffle on Sept. 20.
Proceeds will be used toward the continued upgrading of play-
ground equipment, accelerated reading store, and other school
functions. Please support the school by purchasing tickets from
any student or P.T.O. member. They are $1 each or 6 for $5. The
prize list continues to grow due to generous donations from local
businesses. For information, call Valerie John at 277-8870.
Park Pool schedule
The Cuero Municipal Park Pool will be open Saturday,
September 4 and Monday, September 6. The pool wil be closed on
Sunday, September 5.
Theft information sought
The Cuero Police Department is currently seeking information
in regards to the recent rash of lawnmower thefts the past week.
On August 29, a 42” riding MTD mower, a Murray 20” pushmow-
er, and two weed eaters were stolen from two separate residences
in Cuero. Call the CPD Tipline at 275-5555.
Chamber Auction
September 11
A Texas Fiesta, the Cuero Chamber of Commerce and
Agriculture 6th Annual Auction, will be held Saturday 11 at the
VFW Hall. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with lots of festive food,
decorations, silent auction, live auction, and followed by a band
and dance.Tickets are available at the Cuero Chamber Office or
from any Board member. Come and join the Chamber for an
evening of lots of fun.
