Sorority Secures New
Equipment For Park
Alpha Mu Xi met in the
home of Lorene Babcock
September 11. Betty
McCracken was co-hostess.
The meeting began with a
salad supper.
Reports were given by
the various committees and
plans were- made for the
new year. Evelyn Schaffer
gave the treasurer’s report
and stated that the Groom
Day raffle and Pluck-A-
Duck booth were well
received and the Sorority
would like to thank every-
one that made them a
success.
A committee was formed
for the sale of pecans that
will be available in Nov-
ember. A report was given
by Nancy Patterson on the
new equipment received
from Stuckey’s. A slide and
kiddie swings will be instal-
led at the park and the
remainder of the equip-
ment will be placed on the
playground at Groom
Schools. The new equip-
ment will be erected by City
employees and the sorority
will be responsible for get-
ting the equipment
painted.
Secret Sister gifts were
exchanged and the door
prize was won by Bernie
Tyrrell.
A Sweetheart was also
selected and her name will
be revealed later in the
year.

ed by the hostesses to

Hospital
cafeteria equipment will
pretty well remain in tact.
The center portion of the
hospital will house the
clinic area. Future plans
call for the removing of
partitions from the center
portion to the north to make
room for a community
center and Senior Citizens
area. Various suggestions
are being studied as to the
most desirable use of the
hospital rooms on the south
and east wing of the build-
ing.
The Groom Economic
Development Corporation
states that this is going to
be a major project requir-
ing the participation of the
entire community. It’s the
corporations goal and pur-
pose to rehabilitate a faci-
lity which will continue to
serve the Groom
community. It’s going to
take alot of donated labor
and money to complete the
project.
Sales Tax
had a slight .66 percent
increase and received a
‘check totaling $1,247.91.
Lefors, a town compared in
size to Skellytown in Car-
son County, received no
payment this reporting
period but showed a total
increase of 59.79 percent
based on their payments for
the total year.
