Letter to the
Editor
Dear Editor of the Groom
News:
Of the many, many times
that I have visited my
brother and his family, Al
Homer, in Groom, Texas,
this year I was fortunate to
be a guest in his home at
the time of your celebration
of GROOM DAY. I must
tell you that I have never
experienced such a united,
community celebration. I
took part in the Friday
evening activities and all day
Saturday. I was in
admiration and awe of all
the creative talent displayed
in the general decorations
and particularly in the many,
many booths. I hope I can
be a part of your
celebration again. KEEP
UP THE SPIRIT and
TALENT IN YOUR
COMMUNITY.
God Bless you ALL!
Sister Geraldine Homer,
O.S..B, Jonesboro, Arkansas
Chowline Continues
As you already know we
are continuing to have our
meals on Tuesday and
Fridays at the Chow Line.
The meat is provided from
money paid by those who
do not bring a covered dish.
So far this has been
extremely successful. Our
attendance has picked up
beyond all expectations. So,
lets keep a good thing
going--tell others and
encourage them to join us
on these special days for
lunch.
Hoechst Celanese
Corporation hosted their
annual Family Day Picnic
this past Saturday. Several
Groom families were seen
enjoying the day.
Participating in the morning
bike ride were; Michael and
Michelle Stephens and Dara
and CJ. Whatley. The
afternoon fun run brought
out Groom residents; Marc
Miller, Daniel Treadwell,
CJ. Whatley, Dara Whatley,
Darrell Whatley, Charlotte
Whatley, Michelle Stephens,
Michael Stephens and Be
Stephens. Greg Lambert
was seen helping cook the
barbecue for the evening
meal.

County Tax Assessor-

discussed the State Depart-
ment of Highways and Pub-
lic Transportation’s auto
registration fee, explaining
that as of September 1, the
state will pay the county a
$1.90 instead of a $1.50 fee
receipt.
