This design consists, "in a locomotive having a transversely-divided front extension, of a box over the forward compartment, a deflector at the bottom of the box and upper part of said compartment and having its edges spaced therefrom to permit communication between the two, a stack extending upward from the rear or smoke compartment and discharging through an elbow into the top of said box, a stack leading from the top of box in front of stack and of greater diameter than the latter stack, and the pipes" … continued below
