W. J. Strawn assisted in trim-
ming whiskers at the Palace Bar-
ber shop Saturday.
Mally Shaw was making eyes
in the city Saturday. He carried
bomeaioad of brick, we presume
for the foundation, and the little
thing will soon be pulled off.
Mrs. S. D. Smallin who has
been visiting at Benjamin re-
turned home Sunday.
W. J. Strawn returned from
Rochester this week and stated
that he had the contract for a
new church building and thát the
work is progressing nicely.
Mr. Chas. Simonton was visit-
ing young friends in Knox City

Fred Papworth, of west' of

Frank Morehouse,of Benjamin
was in the city Saturday on bus-

Mrs. Moody, of Truscott, visit-

pusiness trip to Truscott Tues-
day afternoon returning Wednes-
day morning.
Mrs. Bailey, of San Angele is
visiting her daughter Mrs. Deese
who has been real sick.
J. W. Moore made a business
trip to Chillicothe Tuesday re
turning Wednesday morning.
Rev. W. C. Wright left Satur
day for Rule where he filled his
regular appointment, Sunday
morning and night.
Prof. J. B. Jones, of CiUispie
was in the city. Saturday and
while here handed us a wheel on
subscription.
H. C. Sutton had us to add his
name to our large list of readers
this week for which we extend

city Monday, and called and re-
newd for the News for which we
extend our many thanks.
J. J Denton, of route one call-
ed to see us Saturnay and renew-
ed for the News and Dallas News
for which we are very thankful.
He also renewed for the paper

den, Oklohoma.
T. A. Brown returned Sunday
from Anson where he has been
visiting his father who is very
sick.
Mrs. C. Wyche and baby of
Robert Lee, are in the city the
guest of W. A. wyche and fam-
ily.
Mr. Davis and Miss Rogers,
visited O'Brien, Rochester and
Rule Sunday. At Rule they were
the guests of the Misses Goss-
etts.
Miss Myrtle Cantley who has
spent several months at Benja-
min as stenographer in the office
of Attorney D. J. Brookreson,
returned home last Saturday.
Miss Vaughan Clarke, Mrs.
Giles and Joe L. Pearce, spent
Monday night with his parents
east of town. They report a
grand time.
H. J. Matthews, of Graee Tex.
was in the city again this week
and while here had the News
sent to his address for which we
extend, our many thanks.
Charlie Watley, of west of
town was trading in town Thurs-
day.
Miss Helen Pearce who has
been teaching school at tlie
Brock school house, has accepted
a position as teacher of the Grace
school the Brock school having
closed.
The Oilmill gin caught fire on
last Saturday eyening. Owing
to the early discovery and the
heroic effort put forth by our cit-
izens the flames were soon put
out, with but very little damage
to the gin.
Hon. Joe L. Pearce, the pop-
ulor manager of the Wm. Cam-
eron Lumber company will leave
today for Waco, Ft. Worth and
other points. He will attend the
Retail Managers Association of
the Cameron yards at Waco and
the Fat Stock Show at Ft. Worth.
Miss Spangler, of Kaufman,
came in Monday night and is in
charge of the millinery depart-
ment of F. B. Adams & co. Miss
Spangler was with the firm last
year, during which time she won
for herself and the firm many
warm friends and good custom
ers who welcome her back to our
town.
W. J. Varnell, who lives west
of the river was in town Satur-
day and handed us a wheel on
subscription for which we ten-
der oar sincere thanks.
J. A. Wood placed a local in
the News last week advertising
a cow for sale and he ask that
we notify our readers now that
he has none for sale. Mr. Wood
says he did not get to sleep one
bit from one o'clock Sunday
morning until daylight and that
he had inquiries from Amorillo
to Devils river. The cow is now
sold. Moral: When you have
anything to sell advertise it in
the News.
