underway;
Wheat harvest is moving
briskly in the Canadian area this
week, and yields are better than
expected.
Dick Irvine, manager of the
Canadian Grain Coop, said first
wheat began arriving at the
elevators both here and at
Hawkins Station east of Gem on
Sunday. June 7. and grain has
been moving steadily to the
elevators this week.
First load of wheat delivered
to the Canadian elevator came
from Dan Gatlin, north of Bris-

Yields are running from a
good 20 bushels per acre to a
hefty 40 to 50 bushels. Irvine
said, "although," he adds,
"there hasn't been a whole lot
of that 40-50 bushel harvest."
Test weights have been good,
and there have been no prob-
lems about storage or transpor-
tation. "So far we arc in good
shape," Irvine said at mid-
week. Some rail cars have been
made available and cars were
being loaded Tuesday after-
noon.
