Notes

There is a typed caption on the front of the photograph that reads:

"Pictured above is the Humble well #22 on the Armstrong lease which was drilled in 1931. The crew, taking time out to have their picture made, are, left to right: Fowler, Ward--the driller (this is the only identification available on the first two men), Bob Robinson, Dee Ferrell, and Clyde Sublett. The early thirties saw a vast migration of hearty men, such as these, who came to work tirelessly in the fields after oil was discovered. The derricks they built and the wells they brought in soon changed the face of East Texas."
