Every day is one of excite
ineui in the gay city of Paris
l'he noise of the street cais, the
hum of voices, the blowing ol
whistles uud the call of the
'•cheeky'' newsboy us lie past-
-s up und down the streets, ex
ting ihe merits of of his pu
-ii, tend to prevent one from
lulling into a trance while be
holding the mauy beauties ol
the "city of fushiou." Among
the muiiy prominent buildings
here muy be mentioned the
centennery M. E. church, which
is built of brick, situated north
west of the public equure. This
buildiug cost $17,000 with
00b worth of furniture, inuking
a total cost of $20,000, the 01
gait alone costing $1000. This
with the richly carpeted hulls,
fiescoed ceiling aud garnished
walls, glittering iu the gaslight,
made your correspondent think
he hud reuched paradise. This
is one of the liuest churches in
North Texas. The district
conference of the M. E. church
convened here 011 the 5th of
June, with u good number of
ministers in attendance, pre-
sided over by Bishop Key ol
Fort Worth, who is an able
divine. A good time was ex-
perience by ull. The hospi-
tality aud interest shown by the
people go to prove ttiui
thai the good people of Paris
do nothing by halves. The
federal court continues to grind
out law and justice to the
many that are arraigned before
it. This court being iu pro
ress here, causes a great iu
ux of people, especially In-
dians. The Croso murder case
under consideration now is
creating quite a stir. This
case will probably occupy
about two or three weeks' time.
Surely the mills of the govern
raent grind slowly. Hon. D.
E. Bryant of Sherman, recently
continued by the United States
senate, is making un efficient
judge; is proving himself
quite agreeable to all parties
and is certainly uu lmuor to
the Lone Star State. By read-
ing the columns of the demo-
crat, we learn that "Rome con-
tinues to howl" in old Collin.
It appears the "owls and the
eagles'' are at war. We also
notice the "choice" of Collin
county for floater aud represen-
tative Lave fallen upon two
"worthy men," for which "the
people" should be proud. Sup-
pose we 'all smile," "rub out
and commence anew." The
Hogg's note of warning is
heard and heeded, to some ex-
tent, in this part of the world.
Political circles are quiet here,
very little talk being made
about politics in any way.
A movement is on foot to
build a magnificent church and
parsonage ut this place for the
Cumberland Presbyterians.
Work has commenced on the
same. This city is having the
streets graded and paved nice
ly. Will McKinney take pat-
tern Several new residences
are being constructed, which
show thut this pluce is not
dead but liveth. Your cor-
respondent attended a wedding
here ou the 12th inst. and the
sudden change from the log
church und slu'o benches of
old "Arkinsaw" to this utug-
milicent ami well decorated
church, nearly took our breath,
uud cause our senses to sw'-1,

we get home. Seeing all these
beauties, improvements, aud
so muny people, we naturally
arrive at the conclusion thut if
the world is as large 011 the
other side of home as it is on
this it is a twister.
