And tore his coat tnd tore his shirt.
Then held him fast on the miry ground,
The robber uttered not a sound,
While his bauds and feet the fanner
bound
and tumbled him into the wagon.
So Spot he saved the farmer's life,
The fanner s money, the fanner's wife,
And now a hero grand and gray,
A silver collar he wears to-i}ay;
Among his friends, arnung his foes—
And everywhere his master goes—
He follows on his horny toes,

-The corn crop on our lands is j out J. \V. Hornbuekle and Mr. I
fully one-half short of a full
yield this year" remarked S. D.
Heard to a Dkmocrat reporter
Saturday. Mr. Heard is a member
of Heard Bros., a firm owning
extensive farming lands in va-
rious parts of Collin county and
consequently his observations on
the corn crop may be relied on as
practically true for the county at
large with refereuce to this im-
portant product of our section.
In some spots, however, the yield
is much better, but as before
stated we think Mr. Heard ap-
proximated very closely the true
estimate for the county as a
whole.
