We have often wondered what plan
nature had in mind when it arranged
things so that a cat's offspring num-
bered all the way from four to nine,
while a milk cow offspring was lim-
ited to one; In an effort to reconcile
facts with the theory that nature does
not make any mistakes we conclude
that there is some use for cats that
has not. yet been discovered.
