MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE FOR
COMMITTEE MEETINGS.
Mr. Masterson offered the following
resolution:
Whereas, The several committee rooms
assigned for the use of the House com-
mittees in their work in considering leg-
islation are very poorly and inefficiently
furnished; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representa-
tives, That the Speaker and the Com-
mittee on Contingent Expenses be in-
structed and authorized to re-furnish
and properly equip these committee
rooms for the use of the various House
committees; be it further
Resolved, That the Speaker and Com-
mittee on Contingent Expenses be in-
structed and authorized to have the
cloak rooms set aside for the use of
the House members, put in proper sani-
tary condition; and that the Speaker
also be authorized to place a guard or
guards on duty in said cloak rooms for
the protection of the hats, and such
other property as may be left by the
members in said cloak rooms.

REQUESTING CHAIRMAN OF THE
PRISON BOARD TO FURNISH
CERTAIN INFORMATION.
Mr. Satterwhite offered the following
resolution:
H. C. R. No. 11, Requesting certain
information in regard to prison system.Whereas, The prison system of Texas
consists of assets now more or less in
doubt as to their true appraised value,
and a number of items are being car-
ried as assets which have no marketable
value; therefore, be it
Resolved, by the House of Representa-
tives, the Senate concurring, That the
Chairman of the Prison Commission be
requested and is hereby authorized to
furnish the Legislature immediately a
complete statement showing the present
actual value of all properties of the
prison system; also showing and desig-
nating the items now carried as assets
in the prison system that have no mar-
ketable value; and be it
Resolved, That the Chief Clerk of the
House of Representatives be instructed
to immediately furnish the Chairman of
the Prison Board of Texas a copy of
this resolution with the request that he
immediately take action thereupon.

and was adopted.
PROVIDING FOR ACCEPTANCE OF
PURNELL FUND.
Mr. Barron offered the following reso-
lution:
H. C. R. No. 13, Providing for the
acceptance of the Purnell Fund.
Whereas, The National Government
has provided an appropriation, known
as the Purnell Fund, for the use of the
Agricultural Experiment Station of the
Agricultural and Mechanical College of
Texas, the assent of the Governor having
been duly obtained in accordance with
the provisions of the act, pending the
convening of the next regular session of
the Legislature following the passing
of the act; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representa-
tives of the Fortieth Legislature, the
Senate concurring. That the Board of
Directors of the Agricultural and Me-
chanical College of Texas are hereby au-
thorized to accept from the National
Government the appropriation know as
the Purnell Fund, for the Agricultural
Experiment Station of the Agricultural
and Mechanical College of Texas.
The resolution was read second time
and was adopted.

The Speaker laid before the House,
for consideration at this time, the fol-
