S. C. R. No. 3, Relating to certain
farm legislation.
Whereas, A surplus of farm crops has
for many years caused the market on
these crops to fluctuate in such a man-
ner as to materially interfere with the
living conditions of our agricultural
classes; and
Whereas, These surpluses have never
proven to be surpluses over a term of
years; and
Whereas, It is felt by all farm organi-
zations in the United States after having
given mature thought to this question,
that farm legislation is necessary in
order that the farmers might thus con-
trol these surpluses and spread them out
over a term of years and thereby pre-
vent these wide fluctuations; and
Whereas, A bill is now pending in
Congress, Senate Bill No. 4808, known
as the McNary-Haugen Bill; and
Whereas, We believe that the passage
of this legislation will materially bene-
fit our agricultural classes at this time,
and in the future; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate of the State
of Texas, the House of Representatives
concurring therein, That we do hereby
memorialize Congress to pass this legis-
lation without material change, at as
early a date as is possible.
Signed-Real, Greer, Ward, Miller,
Bowers, Berkley, Stewart, Love, Fair-
child, Westbrook, Floyd, Triplett, Smith,
McFarlane, Hall, Reid.
The resolution was read second time.
Mr. Loftin raised a point of order on
further consideration of the resolution
at this time, on the ground that the
time for the consideration of resolutions
has expired.
The Speaker sustained the point of
order.
REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE TO
INSTALL AMPLIFIERS.
The Speaker laid before the House, for
consideration at this time, the follow-
ing "report of the committee to install
amplifiers for the House:
Whereas, A committee of five was au-
thorized by the House of Representatives
to investigate the advisability of the in-
stallation of a loud speaker; and
Whereas, This committee, upon in-
vestigation, has found that a loud
speaker can be provided for at the cost
of $650; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the Speaker of the
House of Representatives, together with
the committee already named, be author-
ized to purchase and install said loudspeaker, and the cost of same shall be
paid out of the contingent expense fundof the House.
