READING.
On motion of Mr. Kemble, by unani-
mous consent, the regular order of busi-
ness was suspended to take up and have
placed on its second reading and passage
to engrossment,
H. B. No. 231, A bill to be entitled
"An Act to authorize the judge of any
district court, or other court having
jurisdiction, to appoint a receiver or re-
ceivers for any defunct or disorganized
church or congregation and authorize
the management, sale or other disposi-
tion of any and all properties, real, per-
sonal, mixed and choses in action; and
authorizing such court in such cases
where such church or congregation may
not in the judgment of such court be
reorganized within reasonable time, to
deliver such property or its proceeds
to a church or congregation, a religious
or governing body or other ecclesiasti-
cal head, or a State missionary society,
of like faith and order, to be used or
expended for the use of a church,
churches, denomination or communion
of like faith and order, and declaring
an emergency."
