Acts of the 59th Legislature, Regular
Session, 1965 (Article 827a-3, Ver-
non's Texas Penal Code), is amended
to read as follows:
"Section 1. Notwithstanding other
provisions of the statutes governing
the length of motor vehicles and com-
binations thereof which may be op-
erated over the highways and roads,
it shall be lawful to operate such
vehicles and combinations not to ex-
ceed ninety (90) feet in length in-
cluding the load where such vehicles
and combinations are used exclusive-
ly for transporting poles, piling or
unrefined timber from the point of
origin of such timber (the forest
where such timber is felled) to a
wood processing mill. No such ve-
hicles and combinations as covered by
the provisions of this Act shall be
permitted to travel in excess of one
hundred and twenty-five (125) miles
from their point of origin to desti-
nation or delivery point."
Sec. 2. Chapter 73, Acts of the 54th
Legislature, 1955, as amended by Sec-
tion 1, Chapter 641, Acts of the 59th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1965
(Article 827a-3, Vernon's Texas Penal
Code), is amended by adding Section
3a, to read as follows:
"Section 3a. Subsection (d), Sec-
tion 3, Chapter 42, General Laws,
Acts of the 41st Legislature, 2nd
Called Session, 1929, as amended by
Section 3, Chapter 282, General Laws,
Acts of the 42nd Legislature, Regular
Session, 1931 (Article 827a, Vernon's
Texas Penal Code), does not apply
to a vehicle covered by this Act in-
sofar as that subsection prescribes
limits on the extension of the load
beyond the rear of the vehicle."
Sec. 3. The importance of this legis-
lation and the crowded condition of
the calendars in both Houses create
an emergency and an imperative pub-
lic necessity that the Constitutional
Rule requiring bills to be read on
three several days in each House be
suspended, and this Rule is hereby
suspended.
Mr. Price offered the followingAmend Committee Amendment No.
1 to S. B. No. 323 by striking the
period at the end of the last section
and adding the following:
"and this Act shall take effect and
be in force from and after its passage
and it is so enacted."
The amendment was adopted with-
out objection.
Committee Amendment No. 1, as
amended, was adopted.
Mr. Kilpatrick offered the follow-
ing committee amendment to the bill:

Amend S. B. No. 323 by striking
all above the enacting clause and
substituting the following:
A Bill To Be Entitled
An Act
relating to the extension of loads
on certain motor vehicles beyond the
rear of the vehicle; amending Chapter
73, Acts of the 54th Legislature, 1955,
as amended by amending Section 1
and adding Section 3a (Article 827a-
3, Vernon's Texas Penal Code); and
declaring an emergency.
The committee amendment was
adopted without objection.
S. B. No. 323 was passed to third
reading.

THIRD READING
Mr. Price moved that the consti-
tutional rule requiring bills to be
read on three several days be sus-
pended and that Senate Bill No. 323
be placed dn its third reading and
final passage.
The motion prevailed by the follow-
