The following Conference Commit-
tee, on the part of the House, was
appointed on S. B. No. 295:
Representatives Slider, Birkner,
Haines of Brazos, Hendryx of Brew-
ster and Moore of Dallas.

SPECIAL ORDER
Mr. Nugent of Kerr moved to set
S. B. No. 145 as a special order at
2:30 o'clock p.m. today.
The motion prevailed and it was
so ordered.
AUTHORIZING CORRECTION IN
HOUSE BILL NO. 1064
Mr. Clark of Harris asked unani-
mous consent of the House that the
Enrolling and Engrossing Clerk be,
and is hereby, authorized to correct
the amendment to Committee Amend-
ment No. 1 to House Bill No. 1064 by
striking Section 2 in addition to Sec-
tion 1.
There was no objection offered and
it was so ordered.
HOUSE BILL NO. 354 WITH
SENATE AMENDMENTS
Mr. Wayne called up with Senate
Amendments for consideration at this
time,
H. B. No. 354, A bill to be entitled
An Act relating to raising the stand-
ards for issuance and renewal of
operators', commercial operators' andchauffeurs' licenses; increasing the
penalties for violation of certain traf-
fic laws; requiring license applicants
to be examined in the types of ve-
hicles which they will be licensed to
operate; broadening the grounds for
license suspension and revocation and
increasing the period of suspension in
certain instances; changing the pro-
cedure for revocation and suspension
and for judicial review; providing for
a motorcycle operator's license; pro-
viding for a provisional license;
establishing driver training schools
for rehabilitation of problem drivers;
amending Chapter 173, Acts of the
47th Legislature, Regular Session,
1941, as amended (Article 6687b,
Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), as
follows: amending Sections 2(a), 4.
10, 21(b), 22(a) and (b), 24(b), and
34, and adding new Sections 5B, 11A,
24A, and 30A; and declaring an emer-
gency.
On motion of Mr. Wayne the House
concurred in the Senate Amendments
to H. B. No. 354.
TEXT OF SENATE AMENDMENTS
TO HOUSE BILL NO. 354
Senate Amendment No. 1
Amend the Committee Amendment
to House Bill 354, Section 13, Sub-
section (a), by striking out the fol-
lowing language:
"Upon such hearing, in the event
of an affirmative finding by the
court, the officer who presided at such
hearing shall report the same to the
Department which shall have auth-
ority to suspend said license for a
period not greater than one (1) year"
and substituting in lieu thereof the
following:
"Upon such hearing, the issues to
be determined are whether the license
shall be suspended or whether the
license shall be revoked, and in the
event of a suspension, the length of
time of the suspension, which shall
not exceed one (1) year. The officer
who presides at such hearing shall
report the finding to the Department
which shall have authority to suspend
the license for the length of time re-
ported;"
