meeting in announced by Rev. T. I*
Huffstutlcr to begin at his church, the
Trinity Methodist, next Sunday, Octo-
ber 3. The evangelist is W. M. Bowent
conference evangelist of Fort Worth.
Not only Is the evangelist announced
as an able speaker, but also he is a
singer and gives many special numbers
in his me tings.
Births and Deaths.
Denison, .Tex., Oct 2.—The records
tor birth*- for the month of Septem-
ber as kept by I>r. Booth, shows a total
of fifty. Tiiis is five more than the
record made last August. It is the
best record for six months for births.
The boys lead, there being thirty-three
baby boys and seventeen girls.
Tluv deaths for the past month total
nineteen, twelve of which were males.
Four of the deaths were by accident
aud one was caused by gunshot
wound.
The net gain in vital statistics for
the month is thirty-one. 4

of Fort Worth is In the city with the
view of locating here. Mr. Winters is
a civil engiueer aud was active In the
building of the Grayson County good
roads some years ago. lie will likely

Refilling Company, and will move his
family to this city.

Denison, Tex., Oct. 2.—Home Com-
ing Day will Ik* observed Sunday. Oc-

The Orayaon County Uve Stock As-
aoclatlou has arranged to put on a
special show at Old Settler*' Park
Monday night in connection with the
sixth semi-annual auction sale and
show Monday and Tuesday that will
be very much out of the ordinary in
this flection of the country. The show
will be in the form of a rural pageant,
depicting many of the sports aud
scenes of rural life.
The show proper will consist . of
pine numbers arranged in vaudeville
style. As an opening number all the
live stock on exhibition will be padd-
ed in front of the spectators. Follow-
ing this will Ik* a milking contest,
prohably between a prominent citizen
of Sherman aud a likewise prominent
citizen of Denison. If they do not
hack out. Will Leslie and George Mor-
gan will be the contestants in the sec-
ond number.
Following the milking contest, there
will lie held a churning and butter
making contest with a lady and one
hoy assistant on each side of the con-
test. The fourth number on the pro-
gram will be a bulldog contest follow-
ed by an old fashioned corn husking

As a sixth number on the program
a relay rai-e'has been arranged to
take place betwene the l eef breeders
and dairymen. II. Q. Thoinpon will
have cliarge of the beef breeders and
Roy Flnley will serve as captain for
the dairymen. The seventh number
will lie a greased pig contest partld-
pated In by negro l oys between twelve
aud fifteen years of age. >
The eighth number will lie a boxing
contest put on by members of the
Grayson County llg and Calf (Tubs.
Following the boxing match, will lie a
pillow fight by members of the same
clubs.
The Committee of arrangements
promise that the entertainment will l>e
a scream from start to finish. A
small admission fee will lie charged to
this entertainment In order to help
defray the expenses of the live stock
exhibit, as the show proper on Mon-
day and Tuesday is free to the public.

Judge Silas Hare of the Fifteenth
District Court signed the minutes of
the April term of his court Saturday
afternoon. The October terni will lie
opened Monday.
Carrol Wcruggs, who served in the
Navy during the war, is liack from a
cruise to Jamaica which was given ME*
service men who were on the reserve
list. Carrol reports a great time at
Uncle Sam's expense.
Dr. T. A. Wharton, pastor of the
First Presbyterian Church, will arrive
home Saturday nlglit from St. I/mi is
and other cities in the East, where he
lias lieen during the past week, and
will occupy his pulpit at the regular
morning service Sundity. |
Construction work was begun Sat-
urday on the new stone front of the
American Bank A Trust Company's
new home on the east side of the
square. When completed, this front
promises to be oue of the handsomest
in the city.
lln Company left Friday for Galveston
to look after Interests of the company
there. The fire of this week on the
Galveston wharves damaged some of
the property of the company, although
details of the loss have not been, re-
ceived here.
After a suspension during the heat-
ed term, all the women's club organi-
zations will resume their- sessions
next week. New plans and renewed
energy will lie put into their activi-
ties. for the benefit of Sherman and
her people.
