- Yes, that's exactly what the young man has done that has spent 4 years in the U. S. Navy and then does
not re-enlist. The 4 years, kr. Ex-Navy-Man, that youwe're in the Navy, you placed to your credit, on the 16
Mr plan, approximately FOUR THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. What are you going to do about
it? $4,500.00 is a lot of money to throw away. iDon't do it! Go back and claim it!
How is all that due you? Just this way: Upon completing 16 years with the U. S. Navy you may be re-
tired to inactive duty, after which, you will receive' each ^month from the Government a little over $60.00 for a
period of 14 years, during which time you are at liberty of course, to work how, where and for whom you may
choose. After receiving this $60.00 each month for 14 years, this amount automatically increased to a little
ove$$80l06 ]>er month for the rest of your natural life. '
Now after 16 years of service with the U. S. Navy, your income of $60.00 each month amounts to
$720 per year. The amount necessary to have in the Bank, on interest at 4 per cent, to yield $720.00 a year will *
be just $18,000.00, so you will see that by staying with your Navy job you will place yourself in the same status
of a man worth that amount—$18,000.00. .>#■:I \
• Now, Mr. "Ex," you have already 4 years service to your credit and on the 16 year plan $4,500.00 also. If
you go back it is as "good as gold"; if you don't go back it is lost. Now the time necessary for you to complete
the 16 years service will be 12 years as you have already done 4 years, so in 12 years, which is a comparatively
short time, or part, of a man's life, you can place yourself in the position to receive the income on the $18,000.00
Which you have the same as saved, if you go back. "
m
i<j*
J
, -
m
a
On the other hand if you go out in civil life and take up some line of work, you must, above all living ex-
penses, pleasures, reverses, etc., save yearly for the next 12 years, yeaf in and year out, "rain or shine,"
$1,500.00 to equal what you can do in the Navy, in thattime.
* # Now after remaining in the $18,000.00 class for a period of 14 years, during which time you have re-
ceived each month $60.00, your income automatically increases to $80.00 per month for the rest of your natural
Jfcfe. which, by this increase, places you in the class of the man who has saved, and has.on interest at 4 per ceftt,
$24,000.00. Can you beat it? Will the work you are now doing yield yoti that? There are very, very *few posi-
tions in civil life that a man can start out on and KNOW that he is going to be a success, and that he will not in
the latter part of life, be dependent on his children or charity. The Navv man doesn't worry about those
things. <
. ^ Mr. Ex-Navy-Man, if you can't, in the next 12 years, save enough to place yourself in that independent
position, we are here to place you where you can, above every possible expense. Stop struggling! Stop wasting
time! Come in and see us, where further information will oe gladly given, at the
