LEGAL NOTICE
TO THE ELECTORATE
OF STARR COUNTY,
TEXAS
By order duly recorded in the
Minutes of the Court, the Starr
County Commissioners' Court,
on November 30, 1973,
redistricted Starr County into
nine election (voting)
precincts, pursuant to Article
2.04 of the Texas Electino Code.
The order reads as follows, to-
wit:
BE IT REMEMBERED, that
on this the 30th day of
November, A.D. 1973, the
Commissioners' Court of Starr
County, Texas, reconvened in a
duly called special meeting at
the request of Alex W. Gabert,
Attorney at law, special Court
Counsel and with due notice
pisted as duly required by law
and said meeting being held at
the regular meeting place
thereof in the Courthouse of
said County at Rio Grande City,
Texas, with the following
members comprising said
Court present:
Mario E. Ramirez, County
Judge; Roque Guerra, Jr.,
Commissioner, Preciunct No. 1;
Amando Pena, Commissioner,
Precinct No. 2; Hector Lozano,
Commissioner. Precinct No. 3,
Reynaldo Alaniz, Com-
missioner, Precinct No. 4; Jose
S. Hinojosa, Clerk of the County
Court and Ex-Officio Clerk of
the Commissioners' Court, and,
among other proceedings had
by said Court was the following:
WHEREAS, this
pursuant to that
MEMORANDUM AND OR-
DER duly entered in Cause
Civil Action No. 72-B-137, styled
Rafael Carrera, et al vs Dr.
Mario E. Ramirez, et al. Celia
Vela, et al, Intervenor, United
States District Court, District
Judge Reynaldo Garza
presiding and in pursuance to
that Constitutional and
statutory power vested in this
Court to rearrange, reestablish
and redefine new com-
missioners' precincts, did
heretofore on this day, duly
enter its order recreating,
reestablishing and redefining
the four new commissioners'
precincts within and throughout
said Starr County, Texas, for
the convenience of the people
and in accordance with the
"one man, one vote" principle
announced by the United States
Supreme Court; and
WHEREAS said federal
order duly entered into alter,
changed and malapportioned
the heretofore existing nine
convenience of the people,
citizens and qualified electors
of Starr County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS no Election
Precinct shall be created-out of
two or more Commissioners'
Precincts or Justice of the
Peace Precincts or out of the
parts of two or more Com-
missioners' Precincts or
Justice of the Peace Precincts;
and
WHEREAS, the presently
established election precincts
in this County are wholly
inadequate to conveniently
serve the people of this County,
and, it is the sense of this Court,
election precincts in Starr
County and aeainst the
RIO GRANDE HERALD, Rio Grande City, Texas, THURSDAY, DE(
and this Court now finds and
determines the necessity of
redividing said Starr County
into nine election precincts as
will be convenient to the people
in said County and alleviate the
present inconvenience to the
qualified electors of said county
as now prevails with the
present established election
precincts; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDERED, AD-
JUDGED AND DECREED BY
THE COMMISSIONERS'
COURT OF STARR COUNTY,
TEXAS:
THAT said Starr County is
hereby divided into the nine
EMBER.
convenient election precincts
hereinafter enumerated,
defined and described, pur-
suant to the laws of this State
including Article 2933 of the
Revised Civil Statutes of Texas
and, the election precincts in
and for this County from and
after the passage of this order,
as hereinafter provided, shall
be, and are hereby defined,
arranged, created, established,
and described as duly found in
the three attached maps,
Exhibits A, B and C. | Please
