Pharr was a mini-gym tor an
elementary campus. You're getting
a much better project."
The superintendent suggested,
"You can only go with the base
bid." Carrera advocated, "Why not
go on just the base bid and do the
rest ourselves?"
The trustees then passed a
motion approving Williamson's
base bid of $87,320, and voted to
authorize the administration to look
into the possibility of having the
remainder of the work undertaken
with district labor."
In the midst of the discussion
concerning the Grulla mini-gym, it
was noted that Williamson Con-
struction owes at least one subcon-
tractor money from work on the
new gymnasium.
The superintendent said that
according to the latest figures,
Williamson owes Bazan about
$2700. But Carrera said that Bazan
claims the amount owed is over
$10,000.
Garcia said, "Williamson is
willing to sit down and talk to
them. It is really between
Williamson and them " But Car-
rera contended, "We shouldn't pay
Williamson until this has been
settled."
Romeo Lopez said, "The 10
percent (retainage) is still in the
bank and hasn't been processed.
This amounts to $150,000 of a $1.5
million project." Trustee r rancisco
"Paco" Zarate offered the opinion
that "we're not in a situation to
determine who's been paid (by
Williamson)."
