The Vocational Advisory Com-
mittee of the Rio Grande City CISD
held a meeting recently to discuss
several items of importance.

improvement of skills and services
for district students.
The meeting was called to order
by Noe L. Sanchez, Vocational
Administrator. An agenda was
issued to all present and Sanchez
welcomed all advisory committee
members present.
The first item on the agenda was
the application of federal funds.
Mr. Sanchez notified the members
that all programs had to be
reapplied for on a yearly basis. The
application has to be completed by
April and thus funds provided by
the Texas Education Agency are
based on this application.
The second item on the agenda
was program equipment. Sanchez
notified the members that their
input and suggestions were vital.
Members were notified that
equipment funds available are for
upgrading and not replacing pro-
gram equipment.
Each instructor has available a
designated amount to work with to
be utilized for program equipment
Also, instructors will be placing
emphasis on major equipment
The third item on the agenda was
the monitoring visit. Sanchez
notified the members that this
year's compliance visit is sched-
uled for February 1989.

program will be under observation
until 1990. It was stated that the
school administration is receptive
to these programs falling under
State Compensatory funds.
The fifth item on the agenda of
the Dec. 14 meeting concerned
Students at Risk. Sanchez notified
the members that one of the
school's goals was to improve
reading and writing skills.
It was mentioned that the voca-

this area by incorporating instruc-

skills. Sanchez proceeded to show a
video on "Students At Risk" and
issued a handout. Highlights of the
video and the handout were dis-
cussed.
The sixth item on the agenda was
