Mrs. Tissa Peterson introduced
Mrs. Douglas who spoke on "Best
Kept Secrets in Major
Contributions."
She asked what organization
contributes over $55 million
annually to a wide variety of
charities and causes across America,
records over 35 million hours of
manpower utilization and has a paid
staff of 20?
Who is this secret organization?
The General Federation of Womcns
Clubs.
Why, she stated, is this a secret?
Well, its because the members
know what is happening in their
own clubs, but don't realize what is
happening across the country with
the same group of women.
Mrs. Alfonso Perez, president of
the Rio Grande City Womans Club
thanked the group for attending and
thanked Mrs. Douglas for taking
tune to visit the club.
The Ruth Adelia Circle of St.
John United Methodist Church met

main concern is the sex tapes which
are being sold and are being shown
to small children. He stated that
visiting teachers have been in
homes where six and seven year old
children were found to be watching
some of the tapes.
He urged the women to become
involved in the community and
help clean up some of the problems
caused by the tapes and literature.
He urged the group to have
petitions and get more people
involved with the problem.
Mrs. Benilde Villarreal opened
the meeting with prayer before a
brunch was served by Mesdames
Lillian Kirk, Rosetta Kazda and
Dolores Nesloney.
Mrs. Peterson then discussed the
memorizing of Bible verses and
urged all to memorize Matthew 4:4
by the next meeting.
The regular business was
discussed. Mrs. Shuford announced
thai $109.00 was made on Fun &
Food Night. Mrs. Peterson stated
that $300.00 had been given to the
Food Pantry
Mrs. Laverna Page, project
chairman showed an afghan which
had been made and donated by Mrs.
I.upita Gutierrez. It is to be drawn
off for the building fund of the
church.
It was announced that the church
will have a revival April 16,17, 18,
with Rev. John Shuler of Dallas

RIDICULOUS BUT TRUE!
In the Middle Ages it was
widely believed that bathing the
whole body more than once a
month—and in some areas more
than once a year—was very un-
healthy and might even be fatal
So, always seeking a risk-free
society, people just didn't bathe.
